How safe do you feel at home?

I was just wondering how safe you guys feel in your home. I have always felt safe in my home and I remember growing up we alwasy left our doors unlocked even when we lived in Chicago...but times certainly have changed. I still feel safe in my home, but I have to admit until I get the floodlights installed at my house I do not like going out after dark. In fact, when I walk my dog that stays in the house with me I stay on my front walk and call for my other outside dogs to come near me. And my locks are those kinds where you need keys to open either side. I never thought of a secuirty system and I knwo this sounds dumb because none of my electronics are that expensive...but it definitely would come in handy for intruders who decided to intrude for other reasons. So how many of you have home security systems? What kinds are they? How much does it cost for installation?

my town is so small that you can leave a door open in your house and not even be home and you know that no one is going to go in and steal something. personally i don't think that i could feel any safer. our town isn't really a know for brake ins or much crime. most of he kids are getting high or other things to be causing crimes. its pointless to get a security system in my town, we don't get people form other towns coming to ours due to the fact that its small and every one knows everyone else.

I can remember when I was a kid we never really locked the doors and we would sleep with the windows wide open with out any fear, I feel safe in my home now only because I have windo grills and security doors after being robbed twice...people say it is like a gaol but in actual fact it sets me free a bit as I can have all my windows open even when i am not at home so i guess there are two ways at looking at it...

I feel fairly safe in my mobile home park. There are gates that you need a pass code or a phone number to get through. Also, we have multiple cops that live back here. Now that's what I call, safety!

I feel quite safe in my whole community. I guess that's because I live in a small town and everybody knows everybody. Plus, it might help that my dad's a luitenant sherriff. Sometimes I worry about myself, because at times I can feel a little invincible and take very little caution with most things.

Honestly, I never really feel safe anywhere. You can have all of the security in the world, and not feel safe.

I feel pretty safe at my home. We've had some issues here that made all of us uncomfortable like people coming into our yard and stealing things and stuff but we installed some flood lights and the light popping on all the time paired with us constantly going to check what was going on pretty much stopped people from entering our yard anymore. We do however lock the doors at night and lock the doors whenever everyone is inside during the day. It's just a precaution because we never really know what could happen but usually I feel rather safe here.

Home is where I feel safe. When I'm home I know that I'm in safe place and that nothing bad will happen to me. I lived in a city and my place is like a compound one which my two close neighbor is our relatives. We had lived there in almost 30 years and nothing bad happened in me. But you never know when bad things will happen so my family take precautions too. We have dog outside and inside the house. We always locked the door at night and we don't open the door unless we checked who it is and we have turned on the lights outside the house so we could easily see if there's someone in the premises. We don't have security system installed in our house as it is expensive.

I feel safe but I'm always cautious. You should get to know your neighbors so they know your habits and you theirs, that way if anything ever looks out of place you'll both know. I guess you could get a security system if its makes you feel a little safer. If its peace of mind the cost shouldn't matter.

Hi there! I also feel safe at home. I think there's no other place that anyone couldn't feel any safer except at home. But security is still important. We always lock our gates and doors cause you'll never know when will danger come so its better to always be ready and secured. We don't have any high-tech security system. Only a light that turns on and off if someone passes our entrance gates. We don't have cameras inside the house that would warn us if someone is intruding. It's just something to startle anyone who would try entering at nights, uninvited. We just make sure that we lock all our gates, doors and windows at nights. The last person to sleep must check the locks and the surroundings. We also have a dog outside and he is a very alert dog. If someone would touch the gate he barks. Our entrance doors are quite big and its made of Narra tree. It's a very hard wood so, it's quite difficult to enter the house. But still, we do our best to keep the house safe. Ciao!

I feel safe in my home because my area is relatively safe area.I often leave my windows open and ocassionally my doors and I have never had a robbery or break in.The fact of the matter is though that there hav ebeen incidents in surrounding areas but somehow how community has always been somehwat insulated from this. I dont know if its because our community most has professional people who normally leave early and come back in late so they have no time for indulging in criminality .Or if the high levels of construction taking place in our community means that there are almost always workmen there during the day to serve as watcmen has anything to do with it . The fact though is that I can often just walk out late at nights and I will always be safe

I feel my home the safest place. Even if it is under the leaning tower or under an irrupting volcano, I feel am safe. I love my home and I know the nuke and corner of my house. Will anyone fear in place where they like to be.
