Does your boss "walk the talk"?

Recession is here and nearly all the bosses or business owners out there are saying they need to cut cost, reduce the money spent, etc. Some are even helpless that they ask for the governments to help them - GM. But they, the bosses themselves, are not saving money and still lead an expensive lifestyle. Those automobile companies flew in their respective private plane in order to seek help from the government. The boss who said he needs to cut down the salary of the employees, still has a chauffeur driving him around and still lives in a huge bungalow. Most bosses, no matter how much they say they will cut cost, are reluctant to give up their own luxuries. They're simply walking a different talk, and not setting a good example. Is your boss someone who behaves this way or is there anyone you know who is behaving this way?

I don't really care about my boss and his lifestyle. All I care about is the work that I am doing and I work around the parameters that my boss sets. Cheers!!

It does concern you if he cuts your paycheck for the sake of cost cutting but he himself still leads a luxurious life.

I am now self-employed but I did work for other people in the previous recession. I found out that most bosses do not set an example to their employees. Only one person walked the talk. Those who did not gave various reasons to justify their actions. Racial background did not play a major influence. I had Malay, Chinese and Indian bosses. All of them, except for one Malay boss, were the same. It boils down to human nature. Greed and self preservation make humans become uncaring for the others. I guess things will not change much as long as these and other negative traits are still present in our hearts. all the best, rosdimy

I agree. People are greedy and selfish and we tend to look after our own well-being first, before anything else. That's human nature and maybe our way of surviving. But it's not healthy and changes should be made. That's why I always tell people to look in the mirror first before you ask others to do something. Are you actually doing that yourselves? If not, how do you expect others to follow your lead?
