I am thinking of making bath salts for Christmas presents this weekend. I cannot figure out if bath salts are sold in regular grocery store or in specialty stores. I have Epsom Salts so I know I can used that but the project i am working on indicates use both. Anyone ever made bath salts?

I've made bath salts many times..You can use a mixture or JUST sea or epsom..Sea salt you should be able to find in a grocery store or health store....I usually just use Espom and word of warning...if your "recipe" says to use baking soda..DON'T...i've made it with and without and if you want the fragrance to last and be a decent strenght you DO NOT want to use baking soda since it absorbs and neutralized odors...

You can find a variety of salts in most health food stores and almost all grocery stores carry sea salt also. As mentioned earlier, mixing sea salt with Epsom salt works very well and adding baking soda to the mix is not advised (though baking soda in bath water is very good for you, as it removes the chlorine in the water)
Specialty stores have better selections, but you will pay a bit more. If you have a Whole Foods, or grocery store that is geared to selling natural/organic food, you'll find many options.
Bath salts make great presents... good luck in your search!

To get the maximum benefit from your bath salts, use both epsom salt and sea salt. they each have their own drawing properties and skin benefits. Here in the US sea salt can now be bought in most grocery stores.

You can buy sea salt at any grocery store and even Walmart. I have ought some last week and cannot wait to use them. I know that using baking soda is not a good thing.

You can buy them a local grocery store or even Walmart sells them. I am now into making bath salts and am going to buy my sea salt this weekend. I also bought some fragerances to use in the bath salts. All I need to know now is how to store them and what to sell them in.

I did find some at my local Kroger stores, and I made bath salts with lavender oil several times. I found my containers at a garage sale. They were 10 cents each. I have about 20. I want to sell some for the holidays, but I am still trying to decide if I should use the food coloring or not.
