Losing an Online Friend

Have any of you ever lost an online friend? Someone who you have been talking to for weeks, or months or even years and have gotten to know on a personal basis? I had a friend like that. We talked on line for ten years. We never got to meet face to face because we were so far apart but we talked on line and on the phone. We started a scrabble league together years ago (online) and it was pretty successful. Well my friend had copd and was sick for a long, long time. Finally, on Nov. 11th, the good Lord took her home. Her suffering has ended but she will be forever in my heart. I will miss her dearly...

I never have experienced that (as far as I know) but what bothers me is that, often, the only real contact I have with people is the very tenuous one of being in the same forum or, perhaps, email contact. Many of my friends are not mutual acquaintances of my other friends and I know their families only by repute, yet I have still come to feel love and fellowship towards them, as one naturally does.
If either they or I should meet with an accident (or even die from something from which one was aware they suffered), it might be impossible to ever know for sure what had happened.

Oh that is so sad!!!!
I also have online friends before, we talked online and on the phone too and they just vanished. They did not die of course, LOL
But they disappear. We have good memories with those friends too though we did not meet in person.

I am so sorry to hear of your friend and I can't believe that you never met even after 10 years. I have never lost an online friend luckily but I guess one day it will happen. How on earth did you find out that she had passed away?

Thank you. We didn't meet because she was in Florida and I was in Texas at the time, then I moved to Missouri. It just was never possible for either of us to travel that far. I found out through mutual friends of ours. We all played in an online scrabble league and kept in touch.

i know how that feels
it happened to me on jan 26 2007. she had some conflicts over her comin onlne.and then after taht her famliy was really lookin at her
n she wasnt allowed to talk to guys
so after that she msgs me that she cant talk to me anymore and then i shudnt try to find her
but i do sometimes look at wht she does online n sometmimes i reply to her anonymously
but cuz she said not to look her up i dont wanna make her hate me
i hope no one goes thru this
