Are you as honest as you'd like to think?

If you were going through a check out and the cashier scanned an item but it didn't go into the computer, would you say something? Or would you smile quietly to yourself and allow them to continue?

I am too honest.......or can you be too honest? I would probably tell the cashier. It might depend on whether I was in a good mood or if the cashier was nice to me, or not, but I would let them know. I was raised to be honest and that is the way that I hope that others see me. I was upset with my bowling team the other night for letting one of the women keep a strike she didn't deserve since she went over the foul line. Since the buzzer didn't go off and the machine didn't automatically give her the foul and the other team wasn't paying attention, the other 3 on my team decided they would just leave it. I thought that was wrong, even though it didn't affect the outcome of the game except to give her more points than she deserved.

I see where you're coming from. Sometimes it's hard to let go of a subject such as the bowler because they know it happened and you know it did, and just because the machine or other players didn't catch it doesn't mean it didn't happen. It is cheating, straight up. I'm not saying that if I were the bowler who went over the line that I would mention it because I probably wouldn't. I'd probably look around to see if anyone noticed and then quietly go on about my business unless it was mentioned. I keep reading it about my kids and I notice each day how true it is everywhere in our lives... we have to pick our battles carefully. Thanks for the telling us your POV.

I always say something, even if they make a mistake put in the wrong amount if their doing it without a scanner. I have worked as a cashier at some gas stations and the ones that I worked at, if you came up short at the end of your shift then you had to pay it out of your own pocket. So I guess I fill like I don't want anyone else to have to do that because of me. I don't know how this would work with them scanning something, I just thought about that,I don't guess it would show up, but sometimes I think they scan it twice, at least it looks that way sometimes.
