Mutual Funds or Stock Trading?

Recently, I am having some problems deciding which types of investment should I go for. I am deciding between stock trading and mutual funds. I found that properly managed mutual funds are very good for long tern investment and the risk are lower. For stock trading, I found that the risk is quite high and in the long run, it might not get any better than mutual funds. So, if you are going to choose between mutual funds and stock trading, which one will you choose?
