some friends always ask me "Why do you like this song?" sometimes I told her or him that I like the words. sometimes I think I just enjoy the music. So what in earth is the soul of a song?

Both words as well as melody is important. I am a passionate lover of music and I pay full attention to words as well as melody. Suppose there were only words, then the song has no meaning and suppose there was only melody and no words, then also the song has no meaning.

the words is more important than the melody, but it depend on the melody.we hear a song is not just listen to the melody, and also the words.a good words of a song is helpful a lot.i used to undertake a very difficult time, the way i try to get through it listen to the music, even now i can remember the name of the song, the name is "i can fly"it is singed by 911,a group of England.the words sprite me a lot.wish u good luck !

I agree with you. Sometimes the words move me. Sometimes it's the beat or the types of musical instruments used. Or it could be a combination of the two that sends my heart flying or my foot tapping... I think the soul of a song is how it makes you feel. It could move you to tears or bring a smile or even give you hope. That's the soul of a song.

I'm a lyrics girl! A good melody definitely helps, but a good melody won't mask lousy lyrics, for me at least. I can't tell you how many weddings I've been to and fought to keep from laughing when the couple chose to dance to a song with a beautiful melody but totally inappropriate lyrics. HINT: If your choice of first dance music is a break-up song, maybe you need to re-evaluate this union before it happens!
