What stroller arrangement is best for two kids close in age in the city?

I'm pregnant with my second child (due in July), and I'm trying to decide what type of stroller to buy. My first child will be almost two when the baby is born. I'm not thrilled about the tandem double arrangement, since one kid never gets to see anything, and they're so long as to make them hard to maneuver. The side-by-side arrangement is quite wide and bulky, and would seem difficult to navigate in narrow city store aisles. I've also seen a sort of caboose arrangement where the younger child sits in a regular seat, while the older child stands on a platform behind or can sit backwards on a small sitting platform. Anyone with two kids close in age have any advice?

I have a son and daughter who are only 02 years apart. My wife had the same predicament and it rarely happens that she travelled alone with them, but when she does, she prefers using a stroller and a baby carrier (a carrier like a back-pack), where she usually puts the youngest. Hope this helps you out, my wife enjoys her "work-out" strolls, which she fondly calls them :)

I can definitely see doing that! What do you plan to do when the baby gets too big for the carrier?
