There is a story in the news paper about a man who slashed a 16 yr old boy because he was leaning up against his BMW while he was waiting for the bus. I know people can get pissed off when they see someone leaning on their cars. It is sort of disrespectful for people to lean on someones car like that. I know I would be pissed off if I came outside and saw someone sitting on my car. I don't know if I could get angry to the point where I could slash someone with a knife. The teenage boy told reporters he appologized, but the man just started cursing at him, puilled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest, and slashed him across his face and kneck. The teenager is alive in the hospital. It's sorry to hear something like this happen, but at the same time I also think that people need to learn to respect the property of others. A story like this could have gone either way. The guy could have came outside and asked the teenager to stop leaning on his car. But what if the boy had been one of those knucke headed kids out there looking for trouble? The teenager could have been the one to pull out a gun or a knife and the owner of the car would be sitting in the hospital.

There is really no excuse for the man's behaviour. If he owned a BMW, he was presumably considerably older than the teenager and ought to be more mature! Unfortunately, there are more and more people around who are stressed to the point of exploding for no apparent reason and simply cannot control themselves. Perhaps stress management (as well as a prison sentence) should be obligatory for anyone committing this sort of nearly unprovoked crime. Sadly, one just gets banged up and no attempt is usually made to deal with the REAL reason that the crime is committed!

And the thing now with the story is the man called a lawyer and told the police he was turning himself in and he never did. Now they are looking for this guy. and it turns out the car was registered to someone else.

This is why I seriously mistrust newspaper reports. There is often a twist in the story that the reporter hasn't uncovered or has purposely decided to ignore (because it would make the story less sensational). 'News' is not designed to be factual: it exists to make us sit up and react with an "Oh! How terrible/shocking/heart rending!" It isn't at all the same as evidence to a jury, yet that is how many people instinctively treat it!

i dunno, its a 50/50 thing for me. the man probably asked the kid to get off, and the kid probably said something smart, or refused. SOME kids now a days are jerks and stubborn, and have no real manners when it comes to other peoples stuff.

These kids today are a bunch of smart a$$es! I tell my friends all the time tha tI will not hesitate to beat the sh#t out of these little punks if they disrespect me or my property. The sad thing is that you get in trouble for it. In this mans case he almost killed the kid. I dunno if I could go that far to stab someone. But according the story the kid didn't say anything smart at all. But most of these kids are very disrespectful. I was driving to work one night when it was raining. These little bat#rds were walking in the street, and one of them acting stupid stuck his umbrellay out towards my car. So I swerved into his umbrella om purpose just enough to make it brush up agianst my car. It was a little immature of me. I looked in the rear view and saw the kid looking at me like he couldn't believe I did that. It did piss me of a little that these kids were walking in the middle of the street with no regards for the cars that were trying to pass by. So when he stuck out his umbrella I decided to drive into it. But if I decided to run the kid over, that's a whole other story.

Like you, I agree that people should respect others property, the boy but on the other hand I believe that some people place too much emphasis on their material position. Irrespective of what it is and how much it is worth ,it cannot be worth a human life and this man nearly killed this boy. I am wondering how he would feel if when he was attacking the child ,the blood splashed on someone new car and that person ended up attacking him.How he would have felt if it happened to his son. I believe however he must have had other distressing issues and seeing the boy on his car merely triggered something that he has been keeping inside and finding it difficult to handle. Maybe he was falling behind on his payments and they were about to repossess his car and then seeing someone on this very car was enough to push him over the edge. Consequently what he might have been taking out on the child might be something more than just the boy resting on the car. I cannot believe that someone can attack someone with such ferocity without having some mental problems or issues
