Can poluted drinking water cause CANCER?

Manufacturers pollute our lakes, rivers and sea with chemicals that comes out of their fabrics. This happens EVERY DAY. In India, China, USA, Finland and Nigeria. ALL around the world.
TAP water. We drink it, and we drink it constantly for 25-40 years.
MAY POLLUTED AND DIRTY TAP WATER CAUSE CANCER??? If smoking can activate those gens, why can`t dirty drinking water do that? What do You think?

yes dont know exactly but it must cause cancer. due to very ddt and non biodegradable wastes and chemicals in water it is likely to happen . HOw ever i dont know exactly . BUt probabily there must be always a risk of cancer by any type of pollution. Especially nuclear pollution. DOnt now exactly about water.
