Getting Layed Off From work!

Ahhh! I been with this company for about 2 years, and with the lowering economy, they had to lay off about 10 people, and I was one of them! I have applied to several jobs, but always get the same answer "we aren't currently hiring". I even went to walmart and mcdonalds. No available positions. I was making a few dollars a month on payperpost, just enough to cover the credit card payments. then they did the blog assessments, i got booted! I went from independent young woman, to a icky unemployed status! I live in a small town and don't have many options! Anyone else sharing my grief?! I can't wait til the economy picks back up!

being laid off from work is one of the hardest things that we can experience in life. it can make us feel down because life is very much dependent on the money that we have to survive. this kind of times call for prioritizing things in life. i had been laid off before from work. i was not lucky to land on a job again. after i got laid from work. it left me dependent to other member of our family. i had no choice then. i was feeling low. and all i could do was stay at home. take care of the home and in a way i was able to help my family too while other members of the family do the earnings for the family. it was my mother and my older brother who worked for the family. i am from the philippines, we help each other out when other family has not job. i don't know in USA. if you still support other member of the family who are old enough to find their own job. but here we do support each other regardless of the age, regardless how young they are or how old they are now. it actually depends on how they work as a family. if they depend on each other or if they want to be independent of each other. anyways, after being laid off i focused more on other things that are helpful. and now i am just earning extra money from the internet. still i am trying to earn online. but it does not actually help my family financially but it does help in a way that i don't ask much from them now. but i do care for my father who needs attention and care. and i gladly spent my life caring for my parent. though i am not able to provide financially for my father. but still i think thuogh i don't earn i still do serve some purpose in my family. i just look at things at GOd's perspective now when in trying times. i don't force myself to have some job specially now that my father will help my assistance and care more than money. i just let other members of the family who are lucky enough to find a job to the support for the finances needed for the medicines and bills at home.

I fear it will get worse before it gets better. Don't hesitate to file for unemployment benefits as you have earned them. Also should it take longer to find a job than six months the government has extended your unemployment benefits another three. Not an excuse for anyone to be lazy and some will take advantage of the system. But a lot of people are in your boat and need the extra help right now. I am sorry for your situation and wish good things for you.

Well, unfortunately this is happening a lot of different places, and I can say it is a scary site indeed. I have friends in areas who have been without work a lot of the yr. even. Where I work so far, everyone is safe, but they have talked about possibly having to lay off some people there as well. All I can say is I will Pray for something Good to come along for you, and keep your chin up. Something better is bound to come up. One day you will look back and know it was worth it all.

i am sorry you were layed off. i keep on hearing these stories from people i know and on the news and it is just devastating to people. getting layed off is bad enough but if there are no jobs to be found it is even more distressing. the more people on unemployment and the worse off the econmy will get. the system is just going to implode. there will not be enough money to go around. i fear for the near future and what will be. still i see some people that are not cutting back at all and i wonder if they just do not care or if their head is in the sand. to me it is very worrisome. we just keep plugging along and try to keep our heads above water somehow.

You are definitely not alone. Believe me I cannot wait until the economy picks back up myself. I unfortunately did not get laid off. But in the mist of our economy plunging I quit my job, because I couldn't stand to work there another minute and now that things are starting to really hit me I wish I had never quit. I live in a big city and you would expect that there would be alot of people here looking to hire some people. I have put in so many applications and nothing. My husband had experienced a lay off though. It more didn't have to do with the economy or maybe it did. But the person that owns the company was laying off the people here and moving his company to Mexico. Now I have a good feeling that that won't be happening any time soon. With the economy and how things are going. The sad thing though is that my husband got laid off a couple of weeks before our wedding and he was working at this job for like 10 years. It was a sad day for everyone there because alot of people knew him and on top of that everyone in the company as well as the supervisors knew he was getting married. I was like oh thanks alot what a nice wedding gift. I wish sometimes that they would have waited until he got married before laying them off. But I believe that the owner of the company did not care. But anyway, it took my husband awhile before he found a job, it took some months. But he eventually found a job. So what I have to say is don't give up keep on looking and filling out your applications and putting your resume's out there. Even though they may say oh we aren't hiring right now, once the economy starts to pick up they may be looking for more employees and your application will already be in their file. Good luck.

Ouch. I know exactly how you feel. Well I didn't get laid off. I was frustrated with my boss and quit my job not realizing how hard it was going to be to find another job right now. If you like to write I suggest writing for associated content. They won't make you a millionare but It can help supplement your income some.

Your not alone. I have been unemployeed for a yr now and get the same responses that you do about not hiring. We were lucky that my husband had a decent job and we could survive, until Wednesday morning when he was told the company is closing their doors and his last day of work is Jan. 9th......Its been tough to handle, but you just take 1 day at a time and work through the day and take things as they come. It is good to know though that ALOT of people are all in the same boat!!! Its not just you!!! Just keep applying to jobs and don't let yourself get down. Keep you head up and just focus on today and getting through the day. Hopefully our economy will come back soon!!! Shihtzumama

I've worked for a company for five years,I was layed off in September. This company had to lay off around 100 people between June and September. They said it was for the same reasons the economy. I've been getting by from week to week. I haven't found a job yet. Ether their not hiring, or you don't have the right amount of expereince. But I've always felt no matter how hard times get we'll get by somehow.
