I believe the true name is Poinciana, but in the Caribbean most folks calll them flamboyant trees.

In Puerto Rico these are called FLAMBOYAN and they are the indigenous tree of Puerto Rico. We used to love seeing these all along the roadsides going to the rainforest of El Yunque. Have you ever been to Puerto Rico? You would love it. Its really pretty once you leave the city (San Juan). What I love about Puerto Rico is the character it has. Its really cool.
I hope to go back someday to show my kids.

I have been to Puerto Rico several times, and find the people warm and friendly. Most of my time has been in and around San Juan. The beaches are nice compared to Galveston.
