Don't you hate when co-workers get into your personal business?

I mean sharing is one thing but when they probe you about something related to your job and theres a lot of stress behind it, its annoying. For example, I've been an EMT for 4 months at this private company, we don't do 911 calls or anything serious like that, we mostly get like basic transport calls from nursing homes and hospitals, stuff like that. These people will bug you about becoming a driver, there's lots of non drivers there. I'm 23 and just started learning how to drive a car this year, the same year I passed the EMT state exam. I had 15 car lessons, and before i took the road test, i discovered my best friend since childhood killed himself two months after he done it and I can't even begin to describe to you what I went through and am STILL going through. So I postponed the road test for a month later with the intention of taking a couple more lessons before doing it, I didn't though because of time and failed the road test. Couple my friend's death with my mom dying a slow death thanks to Dementia in a nursing home, me trying to finsh a novel, do some online stuff to make money outside of work, and start filming a short in the spring -- I'm trying to do one thing at a time here. I don't think tackling an ambulance only a few months after I began learning to drive a car is such a good idea right now anyway. And this co worker has the nerve to ask me out of the blue, while we are waiting to go upstairs in this nursing home, "When are you gonna become a driver? Why do you keep failing your road test again?" I felt like smacking her in her friggin face.

You shouldn't have to explain a thing about your personal life to a co-worker. Why you do not want to drive is none of his or her concern and they should leave it at that and simply repsect your decisions. Slapping her might feel good though... if only for a moment.
