well, root canal is a treatment used to repair and save the tooth that is badly decayed. The nerve and pulp are removed and the inside tooth is cleaned and sealed. some patients who undergo this treatment tells that its painful when the anaesthesia has worn off, but this is the most effective way... ask your dentist or your orthodontics of which is the best treatment for you. Goodluck!

I have not had a root canal, but you can't always do one. It depends on how far along the decay is. I have always had teeth problems, it seems to run in my family. Regardless of my brushing habits I always seem to get cavities! I had to have a tooth pulled last year and up until the time that I got it pulled it was excruciating pain. I know some remedies for pain, but not solutions to the problem aside from pulling. To relieve pain, I used clove oil dabbed on the tooth, as i needed it. Also in between brushing I would rinse with either salt water, or a peroxide rinse to keep the area clean. Also before bed I'd dab a bit of whiskey on the area. That sounds silly, but it really worked for me. Good luck!
