Do referrals automatically become friends?

When you refer someone to MyLot using your referral link are they automatically added to your MyLot friends list? I didn't think they were but I recently was on sabbatical from MyLot and when I got back many of my new referrals were a part of my friends list. Can anyone here answer this or should I contact MyLot directly?

Maybe now they do....hopefully. I know that when I first started here 4 years ago, I got some referrals that are still pending friend requeat. They never were actve though so I tried sending them a message which I couldn't because they were not friends.

Yes, when I first started I know that I had to send a friend request to the referral so that they would add me as a friend.
It definitely sounds as if we have experienced the same thing.

I'm not sure but I would lean more towards yes because I have several referrals and I didn't request them as a friend, but when I checked my friends list, there they were, so I just assumed that they were added automatically.

That is definitely what I am thinking.
As in the next message I don't think that this has always been so but I do believe it is the case now.
