Well this is Christmas ....

Well Christmas is almost upon us again. Locally on "Black Friday" two men with guns shot one another to death in the Palm Desert Toys "r" us. I heard on the news that another man got trampled in a New York "Black Friday" rush for the bargains. I observed all of this madness from the peace and serenity of my home and avoided all of the madness. In fact I got my Christmas shopping done in just over 2 hours this Thursday. Mostly with the help of Amazon.com and the only stores that I have seen the inside of this holiday season is a grocery store, a dollar store, and an outlet store (I wasn't shopping for Christmas presents I was buying lingerie for work). I think that the insanity of the holiday season needs to be broken from. That people need to stop, sit down, and take in what is supposedly the purpose of the holidays. The time to spend with family, watching the family grow and change from year to year. It is the time of the year to reflect upon all the non-material things that you give and that you want to give in the future to these people who comprise your family. Gifts are all well and good. They are a representation of the gifts which were given to the infant Jesus (whom it is well known was actually born in March). The season of giving has always been the start of winter. No matter what the festival was called historically. It has always been a time of traveling or opening your home to friends and family from both nearby and far away. And celebrating the close of another year with all of you healthy and together. Isn't that among the best of gifts to give. And it's free, no need for trampling, no need for becoming a breaking news story on television. You obviously all have access to the internet and most of you have credit cards or can go down to Rite aid and buy one, shop online (you're running out of time but there is always rush delivery), save yourself some anxiety and some time. And then spend that time with those that you want to spend that time with, your loved ones. Safe and happy. Happy holidays everyone! 14-12-2008

its a shame that Christmas is sometimes like this, it should be a happy time, I start early with my Christmas buying so I don't go through any rush or anything, I like to enjoy the season, it should be an enjoyable time for all...
