Isn't it sad that American seniors are NOT being helped?

I have a relative that will be 75 the 23rd of Dec. She
tries to live on less than $700 a month. Could you do it?
I think it is sad that we can give trillions of dollars to
bail out big companies, and pad the bank accounts of FAT CATS
at the so called, "top" - but none of our seniors get the
help that they need to have a half way decent life.
Someone stole my sister-in-law's clothing, and even her
blankets. She told me she has one old holy blanket to
cover up with at night, and her trailer is never warm enough.
She's had her electric cut off in the past few months, and
her phone disconnected as well. She's had to pay the
re-connect fees, which makes things worse.
You'd think that the utility companies would figure it out
that if they didn't have the money to pay their bill, paying
extra re-connect fees will only make the situation worse.
Many don't worry about these things, but you know - - one
day you will be 65 or older, and those that are young now, better
get to doing something to change the laws and help system
for the aged, cause you're getting closer to being in that
group every day.

Yeah, if you do not have a lot of money before you retire, it can be really hard. Thankfully, my parents had a good amount in savings, because if they had to depend on their social security they would not be able to make it. I just saw on the news, where a disabled senior woman was being evicted. Come on now, what is she supposed to do, live on the streets. I think the citizens of the US should be treated better than what they are. Not everyone who does not have money to live on is lazy. How can you save if you are making minimum wage, which is not even enough to live from month to month.

Thanks for all of the responses, and they
are all good.
I sure wish that some of our young folks in the congress
and senate would do something to help seniors, but most
of the people in Washington D.C. don't even have a clue
about hardship. they get plenty of money, and never give
a thought to the varied dilimmas of the elderly.
Many seniors are in heartbreaking situations, through no
fault of their own, like the lady mentioned above, and
it's discussting to see this happen in a country such
as ours!
Wonder if she has any family, and if so, if they're even
checking in on her from time to time.
Many of us would love to have our children and
grandchildren, call or come and take us to go have just a
cup of coffee and some conversation.
Many spend the holidays alone and forgotten, including those
that end up in nursing homes. Sure is sad.
