How many of you have your clothes altered? TOO LONG, TOO SHORT?

Hi, i was just wondering how many of you that buy clothes always have to have them altered?
I am 4' 11" & NO MATTER what length i buy my jeans i have to alter them so they won't be too short. I used to pay to have it done but now i just do it myself. Even when i buy the short length jeans it's the same.
Anyone else out there like that?

Well I'm not real short or real tall either, but I always have trouble finding jeans that are long enough, they are either too short or too long, theres never a in-between length. I've thought about getting someone to alter them for me, but I don't know anyone in my area that does that, and I don't know what they would charge. My husband is short, and its hard to find jeans that are short enough, he has problems with them being too long and he steps all over his pant legs. You mentioned that you do it yourself now, how may I ask do you do that? Its hard trying to mend jeans, the material is too thick to get a needle through, I don't have a sewing machine.

I've only had one thing altered and it was my prom dress. I had bought it online because I knew that if I bought one in a store another girl might be wearing it and I would be so upset if I saw that. I bought it as a size 2 instead of 0 just in case I'd be too big for a 0. I wish I had bought a 0 though because the 2 was too big. So I got it altered to be tighter on me. The length of it was fine though. I was lucky that I have a friend who's mother is a seamstress so she did my dress for free :)
