A few of you my lovely freinds have been finding things out for me and have been going on a site called "Wikipedia" Now I haven't been there yet, but will get husband to go and have a look and fixed it firmly into our favourites so I can go and look for things I don't know. My questions are about wikipedia are... Whats the best thing you have found in there.... Whats the "most surprising" thing you have found in there.... Most awful thing... And have you EVER NOT be able to find what you are looking for..... Thats four questions, quite a lot really so please don't feel you have to answer them all, just pick one question yuo can give me a very goods answer to, or as many you feel you want to answer. Many thanks Anne18

hehe, yeah that is the exact reason why my school doesn't allow the use of that website as a citation. but ppl still use it so it doesn't really matter :p

I have never used it but I also get "friends" that tell me that they've found stuff on the site. It seems to be a good site from the responses I've gotten from my "friends".

I use the site a lot to get information, however recently most of the teachers in my children's schools do not allow them to use Wiki for reference. Apparently, a lot of information is entered improperly and there are a lot facts which are just not correct. Too bad, I think its a pretty good site all around.

I don't use it a lot, but I have gotten some answers there on occasion, but I can not really recall what at the moment. My middle child goes there all the time and finds things about comic book characters and TV shows, and movies what ever interests him. I has a memory like a sponge, and many times we will be talking about something and he will have answers just because he read something on Wikapedia, it is quite a site.

Whats the best thing you have found: This is my online reference and I start my searches from Wikipedia only. It may be on movies, musics or anything. Best, probably, the latest news and happenings on Cancer Research. Whats the "most surprising" thing you have found in there: Lots of interesting thing - actually, wikipedia has been working like a container with information on anything. So, if you are looking for information on a topic, you are bound to find it there - and it is interesting to read. But I got to read interesting articles on Madagascar Toys, CF Cards, few Biography of world's respected personalities, and obviously a small article on the place, where I live. Most awful thing: Can't recollect - but at times I land on pages, which are nothing but empty. These are frustrating.

wikipedia is a people's enclyclopedia, you can find just about anything on it, from science stuff to information about your favorite movie star, it is written by ordinary people, I use it all the time for research work for my writing, but, you have to be careful, as a writer I cannot use it as my only source nor if I am writing for a real doctor or something like that, I cannot use it because there have been mistakes found in it, too. so when I am putting a paper together, I have to make sure that what I use from wikipedia has been confirmed by other reputable sites.

wikipedia is a pretty good site and you get information on just about anything that you look up on there. the only thing is, you have to be a little careful because sometimes, all the information in wiki is not always that correct.

Hrm, well I use Wikipedia a lot, whenever I'm curious, or bored even! They have this handy little link off to the lower left that says' "Random Article", and that will basically fulfill my day of boredom, as well as educate me. The best thing that I found would be, my answer to boredom as well as an answer to my question. I'm sorry, I've read so many articles on there I don't think I can pick one out. Hrm, most surprising, I would have to say about the "St Trinians" book series and films, where all the head mistresses were played by men *snickerz*. Most awful thing, I was reading about "Urban Legends" and how they came about, the "true" story that became far fetched. One of the stories was about an elderly woman using the microwave to dry her dog, and, well, I don't want to mention the ugliness of the article. And the one thing I couldn't find, was when I was trying to find out more information on a movie, I believe it was also "Urban Legends", since they have a few movies with that theme, and I was curious to see if I could find the plot info on it, since imdb.com doesn't ALWAYS give the best info on a movie. And I'm glad that you know fully know about wikipedia, and I guarantee that you will find MANY topics to start on here because of that!

hey there, I think wikipedia is the best online encyclopedia. The best thing which I LIKE about wikipedia is that it's always up to date. For example if you search for an event which is going on. For me like i searched for a cricket tournament which was going on. I wanted to know its results and the up coming matches dates. As soon as one match was over the page was updated that so and so match has been won by so and so team. I mean this is really quick. And you can search about on going crises, news, information regarding any famous person. I mean alot of information is available there. I usually find everything which i am searching for on wikipedia which i dont get to know by searching in common search engines. thanks

I always use "Wikipedia" Anne. In fact I would use it nearly every day. The best thing I have found on there is the year and birth date I was born under, as it told me about all the famous people and events and disasters that occured on that day. I cannot really recall finding anything awful on it. Well not yet anyway. What I like is that you can edit it yourself if you have further information about the topic which is great. I think when I do a search "Wikipedia" is always on Yahoos first page and it always seems to have an answer to everything I am searching for. I would recommend you do add this website to your favourites as I really love to see Wikepedia come up in my search results as I know the information will always be very helpful to me.

I get to find almost everything in Wikipedia!! Actually, pretty much everything, heh!But still, sometimes, i doubt the accuracy of the infomation there as any tom, d_ck, and harry can edit the page. And heck, i've even seen one wikipedia page that has been vandalised before!!

Wikipedia is just like an online encyclopedia, except that the facts and answers found in it, are put in by others all around the world.. hehe ^_^ SO, there will be more than one answer to whatever your question is.. At the same time, u will sure to able to find the things u want in there, and for surprising things, i guess there should be quite alot too.. lol

I love Wikipedia. It is like an online "encyclopedia", maybe that's why it has a "pedia" on it's name. Haha. Just my two cents. The best thing and the most surprising?... hmmm.. I think all the questions that I will ask will be the best and surprising. Haha. The best because I can find the best answer for my query in that site and surprised because I will have no idea about a thing which leads to me asking questions and then poof* Wikipedia will surprise me with a fast and concise answer. ^___^

I find wikipedia really useful! You can find almost everything in it, and it's really easy to use! and if I'm not mistaken, there's one wikipedia page which shows you different facts randomly everyday. even though you can get a lot of information from wikipedia, I've come across a few topics which I wasn't able to find, but I think it's kind of reasonable because those topics I searched for were about taiwanese dramas(I'm a fan of taiwanese drama series :D) I hope you'll find wikipedia useful for you(:

Wikipedia has helped me find the entire list of Agatha Christie books. There are many, and I don't know where else I would have found them. It seems like anything important and anyone important is listed in Wikipedia!
