i seldom exercise because i was thinking that doing the household chores is a form of exercise because you can sweat a lot by doing so. i'm curious about this, is doing household chores a form of exercise? any professionals or anybody here would like to comment on this?

I'm sure it's some form of exercise, but i don't think it burns a lot of calories like walking and going to the gym.

maybe it depends on the load of the chores you're into. but of course going to the gym and walking will burn a lot of calories. thanks for responding.

I think housework is definately a form of exercise. Anything that you can do where your constantly moving helps in terms of exercise. I know when I get on a roll I'm wore out when I get finished.Especially if you have stairs in your home!

Hi belle, The answer to your question is Yes. Any physical activity is a form of exersixe. Doing house hold activities and if u like doing it then u r bound to get fit. There is a misconception that u got to go to gym to stay fit. Thing abt the time where there was no gym, no aerobics no fitness center but still people were healtheir than most of us. It was becox of most of them were hard morking and their work was done manually. Sweating is very important and doing things like avoiding elevators or cleaning clothes with hands ( not using washing machine ) etc will certianly help a person to reach his/ her desire fitness goal. I must add that brisk walking is another very good form of exersixe. Cheers, Tutul

Heehee.. I have read somewhere that household chores are excellent for shedding pounds. Around 30 minutes of hard household work per day will keep you slim and happy. It works for me. Cheers and happy Mylotting
