YouTube VS PDF

Would you rather watch a video about how to earn on myLot on YouTube or would you rather read a PDF/Word doc./etc. about it? I am asking this because I have finally finished my myLot guide and am wondering how to share it with others. I want the hyperlink to be preserved but at the same time I do not want people copying my work and claiming it as theirs. Below, I have listed two choices and their pros and cons. YouTube I would reach many people by uploading my video to YouTube. However, I would probably lose many potential referrals. My work would be protected by sacrificing any future referrals. Unless someone knows how to insert a clickable link in a YouTube video, I am unsure about this option. PDF Less appealing than a YouTube video (at least that's what I think), a PDF file would guarantee referrals by sacrificing my work. What I mean by this is there are many ways to edit and copy a PDF to call it your own. However, the referral link is preserved and therefore I would still get my referrals. Unless someone knows how to protect my PDF from potential piraters, I am unsure about this option also. What do you think I should do? Should I upload a video to YouTube and hope people sign up using my link or upload a PDF file to my blog and hope people won't copy it? Please share your thoughts and possible solutions.

In both situations I think there would be a method to steal your work :( People can easily download a video from youtube but maybe you could put a watermark in the video with your site address or your referral link so even if they are stealing it there would still be a reference and they should work on that to get rid of it so it could be discouraging. You can also put the referral link in the video description in youtube.

Do you know how I could add a watermark in my video? I guess people will always find a way to steal other people's work but I want to protect mine as much as possible. If you know how to do this, please tell me. Thanks for sharing that option!

Why not both of them? Sure it's twice the work, but you'll be maximizing the amount of people getting the message. The more people your reach the better for you. I wouldn't know which one to choose to be honest, so good luck with this. Rich

I don't know why I didn't think about that before. I guess it was in the back of my mind but I never thought it through. You can see from my reply above that my original intent of this discussion was to discover how to protect my work and reach as many people as possible while still maintaining as many referrals as possible. Anyway, thank you for your thoughts and solutions!

My question to you is why you would choose to do just one over the other. The smart marketer would be using both Youtube and PDF. That way you satisfy both types of people. NOTE: Have your link visible on the profile section of your video page. Also make a mention of the link in your video.

Well, at first, I just wanted to know what people would rather prefer and then I got a little ahead of myself by putting all the pros and cons on the discussion. In the end I put both choices because I wanted to know to fix the cons each had. You mentioned that I should put the link in the description page or something. That was what I was originally looking for. So thank you for the suggestion. I originally intended to use both methods but was actually looking for a way to protect my work while being guaranteed a referral. I guess I should have reworded my discussion. Thank you for your thoughts anyway. They were very helpful and just what I needed.

It is always better to have it interactive. I prefer Youtube for tutorials. I don't like PDF's because it makes me mad when I always have to switch the windows. When I use Youtube tutorial i play it and then I listen and do what I'm supposed to. Conclusion is that paper is God and mother of every document! :D
