I've been wearing necktie and i don't see any purpose aside that it'll make me look more decent lol! What do you think is the necktie's use? to fasten the collar?

One thing I have often wondered is WHY people still wear this tired old fashion style. I have a few that I wear from time to time, but I think it is seriously time for the people in America to really re-think this whole "business attire" thing. Too much emphasis is placed on crap like this. I am not saying it is OK for people to show up with old faded blue jeans with holes in them all the time, unless your profession is one where this would be acceptable, but is it really necessary for men to wear suits all the time? Should people really be discriminated against by employers if the show up for a job intervies in decent looking casual attire instead of a suit and tie?I can't possibly be the only person who has ever wondered this. As I stated, I do wear ties now and then, but I would much rather wear a nice pair of jeans and a button-up shirt. I even have a blue blazer-style jacket that I wear with this combination. I actually think it looks better than wearing a tie most of the time. Perhaps it is time to re-think men's fashion as a whole?

That's true. I thnk those suits are pretty warm for an employee to wear. Sometimes because of the tie, you tend to come to an interview overdressed.

Yes I believe that would be a good answer to fasten the top of the shirt. As it did start way back when. As I only wear sweaters and T-shirts and then I have what I call my Mom clothes. For church if I go or a wedding or anything else you mite have to dress nice for. Have a nice night/day your friend onlydia

Yeah, buttons around the collar kind of chokes me so the necktie is a better alternative to fasten my collar and keep it in place.

Neckties originated in Northern Europe where the climate is cold and developed from more elaborate affairs, which may have served to keep the neck warm all the best urban

the purpose of the neckties... when there's no more alternatives or options left the boss can easily hang the employee....

You already answer you question, LOL! Necktie is just another accent in man, just like woman, there are alot of things woman wear or part of our dress which really has no uses practically but on fashion it do give uses, and that's the thing... Hehehe

Oh!Let me try saying the right reason. The neck tie was intended to wear as a cleaning piece of cloth. It was used to wipe out your mouth in the early days. You can see in India, the village people always carrying a towel on their shoulders.Sometimes it is used as a durban. Now a days,it has changed to be a status symbol of putting on a towel(called ANGAVASTHIRAM).But the real reason is to wipe clean your sweaty face and body in this hot country. So,it is that towel got changed to neck tie in due course of time.Do you feel I am right explaining the reason?Cheers!
