I live in south central Florida where we have a lot of snakes...some of them poisonous...so, yes, we know how to treat snake bites. The most important thing you want to do if bitten by a snake is to be able to identify it's markings, which isn't always easy as snakes tend to bite and take off. First of all, no, you do not want to cut off all circulation by tieing anything tightly around the limb. If it's going to take more than 30 minutes to reach medical help you do want to slow down circulation at a point a few inches above the bite with some kind of wrapping but you don't want to completely stop circulation. What you need to do immediately is to wash the area with soap & water and immobilize it, keeping the limb lower than the heart and apply a cool compress to minimize swelling and discomfort. You also want to monitor the victim's vital signs as you travel for help. Swelling and severe pain can indicate that it was a poisonous snake. You also want to watch for dizziness, weakness, fainting, excessive thirst, vomiting, sweating and a rapid heartbeat. Again, if it's going to take more than 30 minutes to reach medical care you can attempt to suction some of the venom out of the wound. Most snake bite kits come with a suction device or a small criss cross cut can be made between the punctures and you can manually suck the venom out. It's always best to avoid being bitten by a snake. Wear boots or high top shoes when you're in an area where snakes might be. Wear gloves if you're going to be picking up logs or heavy brush. Most importantly, keep your eyes open because snakes can be anywhere. Not too long ago my grandson and his friend were playing in a big tree across the road and I walked over there to tell them to get down before they fell. When I got close I noticed a fairly large snake in the limb directly above my grandson's friend. I told him in a low, even tone that the snake was there and that he needed to slowly climb back down so as not to startle it.

Yes that's a good idea to tie the place where is snake bit but there is some problem in that. What will you do when snake have bitten you on the neck, would you tie your neck. But one thing should be done is that not to panic and rush to your closest medical center.

I think the first aid for a snake bite is to tie a rope tightly just above the bitten place so that the poison shall not move further. The rope should be well tightly tied with all the effort. And if possible a helpful man can put his mouth on the wound and try to suck out the poison and spit it in the floor. Most important thing is not to panic first.Don't blame me if this is not the right thing to do.Because I get this from all the cinemas I have witnessed. This is the way our heroes manage to save their victim heroines and later on fall in love with.LOL!Cheers!
