its about time!! this women was the 4th person in the world to have one done!! although i wonder though even though she was severely disfigured the immune suppressant drugs she has to take to help her not reject the face raises her risk of cancer so i worry that she may be setting herself up for failure
i do have one question though.. how would you DONATE your face?!?! would you have it on your organ donor list if your an organ donor? its not like they will look like you with the other person having different bone structure and etc.. would you be willing to raise your risk for cancer for a new face?

It would really depend on the situation, doesn't it?
Imagine, if you are hurt in an accident that mangled your face so bad, you cannot show your face in public. Like being burnt in a fire. Or had acid splashed on your face. Or scalded by hot liquids.
Those are the kinds of injuries that leaves your face so badly scared that plastic surgery can only do this much.
If this kind of surgery is affordable, I am sure the above mentioned victims will want to give this a go.

Just to add... this article reminds me of the movie.
I think the title is Face/Off.
Starring John Travolta and Nicholas Cage.
A movie where the good guy and the bad guy traded faces which lead to many complications in the cases they are dealing with.
It was a really good movie!

well if I was in a serious fire and was burnt beyond recognition yes I would go for a new face even if there was a risk of cancer because I would not want to look like a hideous monster.
I don't know how one would donate a face, probably leave it on a donnar card but I have no idea.

yeah i think it really depends on the damage etc.. a lot of people might try to kill themselves after having to live like a freak or something to where the cancer risks might not bother them at all because at least they would have a life worth living for awhile
