Do you take some medicine when you got cold?

I often got cold especially when the season shifs. Yet I seldom take any medicine unless it is worsen into a fever. As we know, all medicine has some kind of side effect, which is harmful to your health. For common cold, you will recover in a week no matter if you take medicine. And my friend told me that it would enhance your immune system if you didn't take medicine. What about you? my pal.

I never take medicines for colds. Hot lemonade with a little ginger and honey is the best cold relief I know of. It won't mask the symptoms so that you can carry on as if you don't have a cold like over the counter meds will, but in about three days you will begin to see a difference. The cold will still take a week to 10 days to run its course, but the hot lemonade with ginger and honey will lessen the symptoms and also will boost your immune system.

I don't take medicine for a cold even if I have a fever. I don't take medicine for anything. I believe taking medicine destroys (or at least weakens) our natural immune system.

I donot take any medicine for common cold and try to recover naturally. You are right in saying that all the medicines have some kind of side effect or the other. If necessary I take some natural herbal medicine like lemon in warm water (Vitamin C works for cold), or gargle my throat with hot saline water.

I don't like being too dependent to medicine. Like you, I would rather allow my immune system to work on my colds first and see if it would work. I would drink more water, double my vitamin C intake and try to take more rest. I want to be as natural as I can when I do have to take medicine, there are now those herbal options that has no or less side effects. I think when it comes to cold medicines, its usually drowsiness and its because our body needs sleep in order to battle the viruses in our body. So if that is the case, then I will just go directly and sleep while skipping the medicine intake.

What your friend told you is stupid. Vitamins and Minerals enhance one Immune System. When you are being attack like this for flu it simple means that your immune system is breaking down and it does not have the necessary tools to fight the bacteria which is in the air. You need vitamin C. I would encourage you to eat things that can boost your immune system so that when there is change of climate it does not affect you that much.

I've taken a health product regularly. And it really works on me. I seldom got cold now. But I am afraid that if my body has already established dependency on it. Would my immune system degraded if I stopped taking them?

No your Immune System will not degrade if you do the things that build it. Fruits are good for building a good Immune System it is not only pills that one can take. So if you want to rest from taking those pills just try to eat fruits they flush and build you.

as far as i have heard, there isn't a medicine to 'cure' cold. cold has to go away by itself.

For common cold, it would be go away by itself. But cold also could be fatal sometimes, such as bird flu.
