A Muslim woman arrested for refusing to take off her head scarf at a courthouse security checkpoint said she felt her human and civil rights were violated. A Judge ordered Lisa Valentine, 40, to serve 10 days in jail for contempt of court, said police in Dougsville, a city of about 20,000 people on ATlanta's west suburban outskirts.

when I had to go through Homeland Security to enter the United States, I was wearing a neck brace as I was suffering from whiplash. I was asked if I could remove the neck brace for exsamination. Of course I agreed and also apologised as I should have realised that they would want to examine the brace. IF WE ARE TO HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF ENTERING SOMEONE ELSE'S COUNTRY THEN WE SHOW DUE RESPECT AND ABIDE BY THEIR RULES. Of course she should have removed her head scarf. My DIL working in Dubai cannot wear a sleeveless clothes and has to be careful of how she sits down as she must not show the soles of her shoes to anyone. Otherwise, women would come up to her and yell and slap her. What does she do? she covers her arms of course. Blessings

How ridiculous! Lisa Valentine doesn't feel like a Muslim name. it does not matter. But why the hell can't she follow her religious traditions? I don't know where Atlanta is, but isn't that place secular? Every human being is entitled to enjoy her fundamental rights. I believe this issue should be given international attention and that judge should be put in jail for 'showing partiality, which is against law' for at least 1 month! A few months before, an Indian woman in London was forced by her employers to stop wearing nose rings or something(I don't know what they call it exactly, but its a small ornament wore on nose), which was a part of her tradition. But she complained to the court and she was allowed to continue wearing it.

Well I think it is not fair, to prision her, for refusing to take off her scarf. Everyone has to respect one's religion, even if she isn't in her country.
