Does sipping on drinking straw adds air in our stomach?

The more i sip, the more i feel that air is getting in my stomach which causes it to bloat. Can anyone confirm this? Will sipping on drinking straw adds air in our stomach?

Yes it can. But chewing gum is way worse. I heard it on the news is all. a straw is not as bad. Have a good day. Your friend onlydia

I have heard that before and i have also heard that it can give you heart burn also. I been drinking out of straws for a long time and neither one of them has happen to me.

So it also got more complications other than having flatulence. I guess i should minimize using drinking straws.

I think it doesn't affect at all. If you sipped without any content that's the time it would cause to bloat. :) Especiall when you're drinking a cola, cola had an acid content that would help you to ingest air to your stomach. :) :)

Howdy modstar! Well, this is a very interesting question. I would say it does just because I have felt the same way you have. I am not expert on this of course but I think I'm going to go with it does fill yourself with a bit of air.

Hi modstar! Good question! I really wondering why sipping in a straw seems different in drinking a glass, I do observed every time I drink softdrink in a bottle in just one to two sip it seems I am easy to full up. That's my observation until I read your post that it is the air that adds in our stomach?

I really think so because the space inside the straw is being pushed by the drinks we're taking.

I never ever thought of this before you just asked this question. I guess that it would add air to your stomach, or it could. I would think that just the act of eating or swallowing period would add some air to our stomachs, but maybe with a straw there is even more air added. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I think it does. At least my husband used to say that it did. After he got hurt (He was paralyzed from the neck down) he had to drink from a straw and he was always complaining of bloating.

hello there friend... well, i really have no idea that drinking with straw on adds some air into our stomach... i don't think it's true because when you suck the liquid through the straw, you're only drawing the liquid out... there's no air inside the glass... well, if i'm wrong, correct me guys....
