New Year Traditions....

Different cultures have different traditions for the new year. In some places they greet the new year with lots of noise to attract good luck. For some they prepare certain foods. Some open all the windows in their homes. In my family, we make sure that we are all together. There was one time though when I had to go somewhere for a training and it was impossible for me to be home. It was the worst new year that I ever had. How about in your case, do you follow certain practices in greeting the new year? Do tell.

Every new year's eve my family would prepare a variety of food and we would stay awake to wait for friends and relatives visit us (they would bring food similar to what we prepare hehehe). At the strike of midnight we would make sounds with anything we can get our hands with and watch the fireworks display. We then have a little family prayer and eat the food we prepared. Then we would visit our aunts and uncles to see what food they got there. But those things changed when I worked away from home - my new years are spent alone working, sometimes i get lucky i spend it with friends. My family open all our windows too during the new year's eve and we wear clean, nice, clothes. My personal tradition is to wash all my clothes - make sure my laundry is done before the new year comes and the house is neat and tidy. I dotn want to welcome the new year with a cluttered house.

Hi, Tamara. I was swamped with projects so I could not log in here that often. I do miss you guys though. I guess most of the traditions that we practice are in the hope of having good luck. I wish we'll all have that in the new year.
