It is not a woman's rights issue. Abortion is also a baby's right issue. Abortion is pre born murder and denies the child to someone who will love the child and assumes that everyone in the universe will hate the baby if she was allowed to be born. Who knows whether that baby who was aborted is going to be a doctor and discover a cure for some horrible genetic disease or whether he is going to be a great statesman? The only reason that abortion should be allowed is if the mother will die if she continues the pregnancy. And what about the husband? I guess according to you, he does not count.
And what about the couple who cannot get pregnant or beget a baby? I guess, according to you, their opinion is diddlysquat. Maybe it was their fault for not being able to get pregnant. Maybe they are potential child beaters, etc.

Yes I think this way, just as I think that it really is up to the man to make sure of protection so he is not put into a position where he thinks he has rights where he should have been responsible in the first place...

Up to the man to provide protection.
Apparently he does not have rights.
He should however be responsible in the first place....?
So to re-cap, the woman is responsible for nothing, but has all the rights am I reading that right? Nor the first time I have seen those sentiments expressed on Mylot - I have come to expect this type of reasoning - No mention of the baby??

maybe i didn't put that very clear, but if a man made sure he didn't get a girl pregnant then he wouldn't be in the position to demand rights...babies should be wanted by both ...

I have answered more fully below. It seems a bit simplistic to assume that only one partner is responsible for a couple becoming pregnant - That's the sort of thing you would expect to be said before women became emancipated. Have we not moved on from that a little?

Ultimately it would have to be the woman's responsibility as it is her body, but please note that I use the word 'responsibility' not 'right'. I believe the woman is responsible for making the best decision for her child - assisted and supported by the child's Father.
Abortion is never an issue of 'rights' as the only one with rights (excepting rape which is not part of the question as far as I can tell) is the unborn child. The other two people involved both have responsibilities and their rights amount to nothing compared with the innocent child who is the only one that was not involved in the decisions leading up to the conception...
It is an amazing blessing to be able to conceive a child and I can have no respect for those who use abortion to establish their 'rights'. I have every sympathy with people who find themselves with an unwanted baby, but whatever their reasons, it is nigh on impossible to come up with a convincing argument for termination of a potential life in my opinion.

There is a valid point in that. However, suppose that a one month old foetus is a human being, then won't abortion be taking away his or her right to live? After all it's a matter of human right. And speaking out against abortion then is speaking out for those who cannot speak for themselves. I find it quite difficult to argue why that foetus should not be considered as a human being!

Are there any other possibilities?
Of course it is a woman who decides: CARRY that baby for the next 8,2 months or NOT!!!
Besides, men can sometimes `cheat` a little bit and make his woman pregnant, although she tells him that she is not ready to carry a baby. How ABOUT THIS THOUGHT TO YOU?
Abortions should remain legal, and totally the decision of woman. No one has right to stop woman from making an abortion.

No, it is a question of the pain, inconvenience, danger, etc. to the woman weighed against the value of an unborn human life. Since the unborn human is not able to speak for itself, we must speak for it. Therefore it is not just a question of women's rights.
all the best urban

Abortion is both a woman's right issue and a children's rights issue. The problem lies in the fact that there is no consensus as to who has the greater right - the woman, to decide whether or not to have her growing child, or the child, to have the right to be born.
