My auntie just told me to buy a new one cellphone, that even a young girl would not accept my gadget if I'd give this to them.So I asked why it does matter? The important is it still usable, I can text and call. My cellphone is 5210 by the way.. So what do you think guys?

If you have a Nokia phone, try typing '*#0000#' while its on standby and you will see the firm ware of your mobile phones as well as the date when it was manufactured .. I have a Nokia N-Gage, the first one and it really didn't get popular at all here in the Philippines and you could say that its already phased out. (^_^") My phone was manufactured on the 26th of November, 2003 so.. I guess that's pretty old for a phone compared to others that would sometimes get their mobile phones replaced with newer models every few months. I agree with you, if I could still use it, why get a new one? Though I do admit that a new one can be tempting at times, I just don't have the spare cash to purchase a new one. (^_^")

I'd probably buy a new mobile phone if its really necessary.. like I can't use the old one anymore or other reasons that I hope I wouldn't experience at all.. (^_^")

Hello! 5210 was my first phone Right now, I have Lg Dare which my husband just bought for me last month. You do not have to change your phone as long as you are happy to have it all the time. And as long as its running well and if you are not really into latest gadgets. Happy mylotting!

Hi marf! U are right, even if you have one cent, if you are satisfied and content, then that's fine. :)

Hi! My thoughts are exactly like yours - what does it matter? I am using Nokia 1100, purely for texting and calling, and I am quite satisfied with it. The bonus here is that I'm not ever likely to be held-up, snatched, or my purse picked because of it. I shall be buying a new unit only when it breaks down, and I will opt to buy the least expensive model that can serve my needs. Cellphones here have come to be used as status symbols, your aunt's attitude towards cellphones seems to be very common here in our country, though it only serves the interests of cellphone manufacturers and sellers. I just shrug my shoulders. Oh, well. Happy mylotting!

I dont think it should matter to anyone but yourself. if you like your phone and it works, why get a new one? Mine is 2 years old. I usually only get one when mine is broke. The battery is going on mine, so then I will probally get a new one soon. But if it keeps working then i dont plan on getting a new one.

i admire your simplicity.. i myself am using a nokia 2100.. lol.. but it still works.. if u ask me, just wait tiL it expires.. you know what i mean.. then buy a new one.. it's not practical to buy new things now that are not so important.. you are aware of the global crisis now right?.. :D hope you'll think about this.. -ciLâ„¢

I totally agree with you! That was my motto for a long time: If it's working why change it? I have a Nokia 5110 and I bought it some 10 years ago. People cannot believe I'm using the same cell phone for 10 years. However it is really showing the signs of age now. I can barely make a call and talk more than 2 minutes. I guess I have to buy a new one soon.

the only thing that bothers me about my cell phone is that it might stop working altogether. Sometimes it hangs for no apparent reason, the battery is new but it's beginning to act up. It still works and that's good enough for me, even if it's an old cell phone. Cheers!!

Althrought my cell is great and new I don`t think it matters how old it is.If you can text and say "HELLO!" and have fun doing it I guess there is no problem if your phone is old or brand new.I,personally use my phone more like iPod and then I use it as a cell.So mine is GREAT for me.

Nokia 5210 is still a cool phone. I even bought an 8210 just last year but i sold it not because i hate it but because i need money. My Nokia 6680 is 3 years old now. I bought it at around 12k but it's pretty cheap now and there are no brand new available. My phone's paint is kind of chipped already but i'm still proud of it eventhough it looks vintage now. It's still working well with no defects and never been repaired. I've no plans of buying a new cellphone because mine still works and like you said, the most important thing is it is still usable.
