Why is it????

When I got up this morning it was still dark. I turned the heat up and the house seemed warm enough. Suddenly as I was sitting here typing my hands and feet began to get cold. I looked outside and it was daylight. I looked at the thermometer and the house shouldn't have been any cooler. According to the thermometer it was the same temperature. Have you ever noticed that in the winter when it gets daylight your house suddenly seems to need to be warmer to feel warm? Am I just imagining things?

Yeah, even when I'm up working in the mornings instead of being at the computer.

I can't really relate. We don't have any winter here. What we do have is rain or shine. Hehe.

I don't know if you're lucky to have just rain an shine or not. Sometimes I wish we didn't have "seaseons" here. The older I get the more intense the cold seems.

Any little bit of sunshine will help heat the house during the winter months. I also notice that once I am up and moving around, I warm up. Sitting at the computer for a long period might make me chilly so I tend to take breaks often and keep my heart pumping. I always get coffee in my system in the morning also which helps warm the old bones. I keep the temperature at 66 or 68 degrees during the winter. We have really good insulation and thermal windows so it's really comfy in the house. I am always the cold one and my husband is always warm so keeping the thermostat below 70, makes us both happy. And if I keep rambling here to try to explain myself, none of this will make any sense...lol

I agree after the sun's been up for a while it does seem to warm up even though the thermometer doesn't change, but it's that time between daylight and sun up that is so cold no matter what I'm doing.

We have 16 steps from the computer room to the washer and dryer. I make it a point to go up and down the steps as often as possible all day, starting when I get up. It does warm me up. Moving around jump starts my day.

I think rather than it being daylight, its more of a matter of your hands and feet being out there in the air doing things that don't require a lot of movement (typing) rather than anything else.

Maybe it's a psychological thing.. Or maybe it's just that, when you sit at a computer, you're not moving very much, so your blood circulation gets worse and so often your hands and feet feel cold because you haven't moved around. I know that when I sit at the computer, I often get very very cold fingers, because I'm not moving at all except for typing, which isn't enough.

That could be but when I was working I'd get up, have coffee, get in the bath tub, then get dressed in the bathroom. By the time I got out of the bathroom it would be daylight and the house seemed colder, but I thought it was because I'd just walked out of a nice steamy warm bathroom, but now that I'm retired I don't rush to get dressed and it seems the same, even on days that I'm up moving around instead of sitting at the computer.

I have Weatherbug on my computer. Every morning just as the sun is coming up, the temperature seems to drop about 3 degrees before it starts going back up. Maybe that is where your getting chilly comes in.

That could very well be. Three degrees makes a surprising difference.

I don't know if you are imagining things or not, but if you are, so am I. It is always warmer in the house in the mornings before the sun comes up. Then, it gets colder the lighter it gets. I have to set a little floor heater in my room if I am going to be at the computer for awhile. It just gets down right frosty in here.

I noticed that I felt it at your house too the December I spent with you, but no one else mentioned it and I was inactive, so I thought it was just me.

I wonder if it is the placement of the windows? Once the sun hits the back windows, it seems to be ok. *Shrugs*

Well when staying still typing, it is normal that you feel cold since you are not using your body to warm up. At this moment I am FREEZING typing and having a cut of hot tea really hepls. Have a wonderful christmas
