What do you think about a Miss Universe contests with the girl next door ?

And by that I mean women you see everyday ,the thick girl,the girl with big bottoms,the girl with buff teeth.Arent they pretty too ?What about the statement "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder ",I am sure there are many who would love to behold these women.Dont get me wrong I love the current crop of miss universe contestants ,they were very pretty but they were like from the same cookie cutter in terms of physique ,tall ,slim and long haired.There are other types of women in the world and if you are representing true beauty it should be characteristic of all size and shapes .Let the lovers of the slim woman have a say as much as the lover of the fat women,let the lovers of indian women have their say in the same way the lover of african american women will .Let the night when they choose miss universe be a time when all types of women have an equal representation.
And for those who will argue that this is also a contest of intellect,let not even go there because all types of women have intellect.
What do you say fellow mylotters.

All the girls who takes part in the miss universe contest are from the field of modeling, so if you are trying to say that a chuby gal should also have a chance of wiining, first the change have to be in modeling industry, where now u cant find many chubby girls...lol

How can people beleive that this is beauty plus intelligence contest.The questions asked,can be answered in a better way by a fifth or sixth grade girl.Its just a platform from where Big Brands get a woman on whom they entrust their products to model for or act as Brand Ambassadors.It has got nothing to do with intellect.People love to watch beautiful bodies,thats all.

I agree with you. They should not base it in how beautiful you are on the outside but how beautiful you are on the inside. But hey they are not gonna do that because they want the world to see beauty as they see it a size 0.

I agree with you, although the Miss Universe contestants, I believe, are not just chosen because of looks, it is things they would like to accomplish. Although people could argue that a person who is bigger could never make it, but one day, maybe they could.

Well done ronnyb what a good question,I do not agree with beauty contests.There are so many types of women with so much to offer and these Barbie type women do not represent woman hood as a whole .Not everyman wants a skinny bag of bones ,some like some body to them,it is no wonder that all these young girls living on lettuce leafs and yoghurts and damaging their bodies thinking that is beauty.Beauty is skin deep,I am not having a go at the thin women all I am saying is a better distribution of women should be available in the public eye and teenage magazines.xx

Your answer reflects as always that you thoroughly thought out your answer .I like the fact that you mentioned the impact of this view of beauty on young women.I think they either should scrap this contest in its current format or have other contests as this limits the view of beauty to a very myopic view
