When I was a kid we each got to open 1 gift on Christmas Eve, that was always a tradition in my house. I don't do this tradition anymore, but I did get a gift early this year. I was going grocery shopping yesterday and hubby asked me to buy him a hat. I told him I'd gotten him one as a stocking stuffer, I couldn't keep it secret anymore. So he told me to give it to him early, he was going to need it, so I did, but told him I wanted a small gift in exchange So he gave me some candy he'd bought me, Kahlua filled chocolates, yum. Have you ever opened a gift early?

Nope, I was always brought up to believe that it was bad luck to open gifts before the day, either birthday or christmas and so there is no way I would open a pressie early because I would not want to jinx myself with bad luck!

I've never heard of that. I've only recently heard that it's bad luck to bring baby items to the hospital when you go in to deliver a baby, I never knew that either.

Nope, we opened gifts at the usual time this year. I didn't get much but seeing and spending time with my family is the best.

When I was young we use to wait up until midnight on the 24th so that we didnt have to go to bed and wait to wake up on the 25th. Now I still stick to the tradition that it needs to be open on the 25th whether it's midnight on Christmas Eve , or Christmas morning ...

When I was a kid, I just peek on my gifts, but I would open them on Christmas eve... :) my son used to open his gifts as soon as he receives them, but this Christmas, he waited for the Christmas day to open them, he wasn't able to open them during Christmas eve coz we were on my parents' house. Well, it's really nice to see kids with so much joy while opening their gifts :)

When we were kids we did one grandmother's house on christmas eve and the other christmas day. But usually on christmas eve even after opening all our presents at our grandmother's house we would get to open one that our parents got us when we got home. I haven't started this tradition yet with our kids. They are at an age where they are hard to buy for because they are too big for the toddler toys but too small for the older kid toys lol. We weren't able to get them much this year also with my husbands layoff, so I wanted to save them all for christmas day.

We used to get to open one on Christmas Eve when I was a kid. My kids don't get one on Christmas Eve, but they get to open a few on Christmas morning before the family shows up. Normally we wait to open the bulk of the gifts after family has arrived. Then we open them together.
