Bush administration finished first step toward offshore drilling off Virginia coast. Environmentalists say Navy, NASA and endangered whales would be threatened. Sierra Club's counting on the incoming president to stop Virginia drilling. Do you think Obama will stop the offshore drilling? http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/12/20/oil.drilling/index.html

I don't like the Bush administration and their last-minute efforts to do as much damage as possible to our environment before they leave office. I hope Obama's able to put a stop to this when he gets into office.

Countries like Iceland and Norway do offshore drilling and yet they are some of the cleanest countries in the world. The difference is Norwegians don't commute like Americans. European countries travel by train and bicycle. They don't travel 2 hours to work like some Americans. Back when America was booming with jobs and industry people worked in their own towns. Every time a job goes overseas that is more traveling for the American worker. I think it is impossible for America to go green. Americans are having a tough enough time trying to find work now. What are they going to do when gas hits $5 again? They can't afford to drive 2 hours. Maybe we can go green when we get more jobs. Until then I think we need to try off shore drilling and stop relying on foreign oil. I have nothing against green fuels but that will not happen over night.
