Paypal Fees Not Charged To Every Paypal User?

Hi, since eBay owns Paypal, I thought it was suitable to post the topic here. I and some of my family members have been using Paypal for over 3 years and whenever we receive money, Paypal always charges us Paypal Fees. (Usually 3% of the earnings). My friend lives in the Phillipines and she goes on a different pay forum to myLot. She has never been charged Paypal fees ever since she has been a Paypal member. She received her 2nd collection yesterday and under the Paypal fees, it said $0.00. How is this so? I thought everyone is charged Paypal fees as payment for using Paypal's free service. Am I wrong? It appears so.

I think it depends upon your paypal subscription/membership. Platinum members are charged fees for payment received but basic members aren't. Not so sure though. Platinum members enjoy more service thus are charged more as well.

I keep saying platinum but what I meant was premier. Premier account holders enjoy more services thus are charged more. Sorry for the erratum. ';p

I agree. My husband is a premier member and it charges him some percentage whenever we sell an item on ebay. My paypal account is not upgraded and still under personal account and i get no charge.

Ah, I see! I am a Premier member and just read Paypals site... it says: Benefits: Premier and Business Accounts --------------------------------------- Send payments to anyone with an email address. Request payments from anyone with an email address. Accept PayPal directly from your auction listings. Automatically remind bidders about your auctions. Create PayPal buttons and accept instant payments from your website. Send and receive payments with members in 190 countries and regions. Download your account history into a spreadsheet or Quicken. Email-based customer service. Since I use Paypal mainly for eBay, I guess being a premier account holder is a must?

However I have that same question. I opened my Paypal account in 2001. I soon changed it to Premer because I started selling on eBay. When people sent me money (via checking or if they had a balance on their paypal account) it never charged me any fees. They did charge fees for credit card or debit card. However, my friend and I just sent money to each other (via our checking accounts with paypal), they charged me a fee, & they charged her a fee, too. However she only has the basic account, not the premiere. So is paypal changing their policy now? Pablo

I am a buyer instead of a seller, so for the time being i don't need to worry about the problem you raised. we buyers purchase goods at ebay, the ebay earns from this, why should we pay extra.
