My husband and I used to call his parents who live in Italy. We use YM by calling them. We also use webcam to make our conversation better. But sometimes, the connection and image is not that good in YM. Is it better with Skype? My niece said that they use Skype and she feels that it is really better.

I used both... but i prefer to use skype because nowadays... yahoo kinda sucks... since we always get logged off... and the camera always freezes... i don't encounter those problems with skype... aside for that... the camera resolution of skype is a lot better... and bigger than that of yahoo...

Skype Beta is an additional service wherein you could charge your callers per minute. It is free to join that service but they have a percentage when you charge calls. You need a Paypal account for that and link it with your Skype account.

Yes I've test both Yahoo and Skype ... for online tutoring and definitely Skype is a lot more reliable than Yahoo. The trick with Skype is your bandwidth, where you live and the number of online callers. In general use a DSL internet line, and if you live in a first world country and you're calling to another first world country you'll experience very little to no latency. Try to call when the number callers are around 4 million, you'll get better voice and video quality.

Why would it be better when many callers are using it?

I prefer to use Skype than YM. I used to have problems with YM because it is said to be infected by virus. The voice calls in YM are choppy while in Skype, it is clearer. But in terms of video, it is clearer in YM.

I have been using YM in communicating with my sisters and friends who are far from me. IT has been so useful to me as well as my family but when I found our about Skype and asked my sister to use the same. So we tried it for the first time last year and from then on, Skype was our instant messenger. The video call is much better and clearer - both the video and voice. I suggest that you try it. It is really good!

Hi There! I use both but I like skype when it comes to video conferencing and voice chat, it is clearer… In yahoo, even if our DSL line is fast… their cam keeps on stopping… or freezing… at times… lolz. Happy Mylotting and Merry Christmas! Cheers!
