When I was raising my children, I used to use the lay-a-way plan. That was really the only way that I could get them the things that that wanted. I did not have the money to pay cash for them. I know that Wal_Mart has now done away with their layaway plan. A lot of people was disappointed with this. Did you use a lay-a-way plan to get your children Christmas Items? Have you ever used a Lay-A-Way plan?

I used to use lay a way a lot when my kids were little. My daughter and I also used it when her son was a baby, she was a single mom and we were both short on money and the lay a way was a life saver. I think more stores need to have and or bring back lay a way.

I have used it before at K-Mart, I don't much care for Walmart.. I had never used the lay-a-way at Walmart but one day when I was picking up a few things there, I saw a bunch of great Kitchen items on sale, I was going to use the lay-a-way but found out that they had done away with it, so I had to pay cash for the items, even though at the time, I could barely afford the extra in my budget.. So, now when I shop, I normally go to K-Mart and if I have to use a lay-a-way, I use it at K-Mart.. Lay-a-ways are a great way to get a head start on Christmas and the best part of all, is that you don't have to get it out unitl almost Christmas day, the little ones can't find it if K-Mart is hiding it for you.. That was always the best part for me, Josh couldn't find his gifts as they were in a storage room at K-Mart until December 23rd or so..

I wish we had a K-Mart around here. We just have WalMart for now.

Layaway was all I ever used when my kids were at home. It was the only way I could afford to buy them Christmas gifts as well. I also used layaway plans for their school clothes. I was disppointed as well when Walmart decided not to do layaway anymore. More stores, like Sears, are now going back to layaway plans though. Hopefully walmart will take the clue and bring theirs back.

That's right I did put my children school clothes on layaway too. I hope Wal-Maart bring it back.

When my kids were a little younger we always used layaway - I am really disappointed that Wal-Mart got rid of their layaway - it was also a convenient way to hide the presents!

WalMart disappointed a lot of people, by doing away with the layaway plan.

I kind of think that the Wal Mart idea of giving up on the lay away wasn't such a great idea. I very rarely use lay aways. I can certainly understand it being helpful around the holiday season though. I don't think I would do lay away for Christmas presents for children.

It was great for me because I didn't have the cash to pay for it all at one time.

No, I did not use a lay a way plan. But I have in the past whn my kids were younger. It did help us be able to get the kids the things they wanted. It also helped when it came to getting clothes and stuff for school. This year was bad, they are not getting very much. BUt that isn't what Christmas is about. I am going to remind them of that.

Hi there Chevee, Yes, I use to do the layaway thing to. I use to go to K-mart to, but K-mart is kinda lamo anymore. What I started doing now, is buying Christmas presents throughout the year, so I can afford to get for everyone. My friends and family think I'm nuts, but by the time everyone else starts to shop for Christmas, I'm already done. Just like this year, I've already bought a gift for my grandson at T.J. Maxx., for next Christmas. The gift only cost me $7.99. If you do that, throughout the year, it's not so hard to accomplish Christmas buying. Pay cash, and then you don't have a huge bill on a credit card. I personally don't think I'm nuts, it's everyone else that is! Ha! Ha! Marilyn

hello Chevee, No, I don't use lay-a-way plan to buy stuff for our children since we don't have like that here in our stores. Or maybe, there is one only I don't know. That will be helpful just in case. What I'm doing now is that, since we have three children I do buy them one at a time. Can't afford to buy them at the same time. Especially now that life is getting harder and harder. Everything is getting expensive from food to education. Need to tighten my belt so I can afford one.

I miss the Walmart lay-a-way program. It was very helpful in getting my son his Christmas and Birthday presents. Now I have to just save up money threw out the year so I can go out and buy him gifts for his birthday and Christmas. And since there are no more K Marts in my city I have no options for any type of lay-a-way plan for kids items. It's really frustration not having the Walmart or Kmart lay-a-way option any more.

Yeah, lay a way used to be a real life saver. I know my mom used to use the lay away system religiously. It's an easy way to get what you need and you'd think Wal Mart was making major bank from this. Who knows but I miss it. It'd really help, especially during the christmas season.

Yes I've used one before. I was very angry when Wal-mart ended their layaway program. I found a good one at Kmart recently. Only problems I've had was the long lines waiting to clear. I used the layaway for everybody. My cousins, aunts, uncles, father and mother. Now I just save as much as I can if I see anything I think I can get to make somebody happy.
