why is Christmas log cake so popular here?

i don't know why but the Christmas log cake is so popular here in Singapore! It is a log shaped cake made in such a way that it looks like a tree trunk with festive decorations. I see numerous ads on TV and the newspaper with this kind of cake:) it is kinda cute but i am just wondering why i seem to see it everywhere. I also see it back home in the Philippines but it is not as popular and is only offered in select shops. What about in your country, is the Christmas log cake popular as well?

I live in the US. I have seen Yule logs before, but I have never eaten one. They almost look too pretty to cut up and eat.

that's true :) but there are some that look eerily realistic. One time i saw a log with real looking marshmallow mushrooms!

I've heard of this, but I didn't know it actually looked so much like a log. It looks like it would be fun to get one day, but I don't believe I have ever seen it in a store. Maybe next year I could go out and try to get one, but I don't know where to find one.

haha! I am actually amazed as well that it looks so much like a log. I don't really know the significance of a log to Christmas... unless if it is supposed to be a pine tree log! ;p hope you find one in your area. Merry Christmas!

My Grandma used to make this log cake (I think it was called the Yule Log), but we would eat it on Christmas Eve. My Grandma was a great baker and could bake fun cakes as these, but we have not tried to bake/make this Yule Log since she passed away 10 years ago. I just think this cake is cute and fun and I remember it tasting good too!

wow, that is amazing! your grandmother must have been really good at baking to be able to come up with a whole Yule Log :) I was looking at one in the bakeshop and was wondering on how tedious it must have been to make one since it is not the standard square or circle cake :) Merry Christmas to you!

I live in peru, it's the first time i see that kind of cake however it looks very tasty and the idea of making a Christmas cake is very good. I think it's popular because all people loves christmas, people dont care to spend money if they could have a nice Christmas evening, and the cake idea seems to be very interesting for me, ill talk with some people here to see if i can make it real in my country, would be a nice business idea in all the countries that the cake is still unknown. it's not as popular in my home country as well :) I wish you success in your cake business plan! Hope the Christmas log cake becomes really popular in Peru!
