Chatting online has become a very good way to communicate with friend, either for important purpose, having better relationship, dating etc. What purpose do you chatting? How long do you chatting per day? Which site you prefer the most (e.g. MSN/YM/...) ?

I don't chat at all. I communicate with my friends via email. I also communicate with my other friends here on mylot through mylot. I guess if you calculated my mylot time it would be about two hours maximum per day.

I myself, don't even chat every day. But when I do, I usually use the AOL Instant Messenger - AIM. I will often talk to the guy who owns the condo I am renting for the winter. I will also chat with friends from back home. Neither one of us has free long distance calling, so it is cheap and easy for us to just use the internet. We usually don't chat too long though, maybe 10 or 15 minutes. Just enough to get updated on what is going on in our lives.

I rarely chat. Only on important things that I need to discuss with my friends or perhaps with my family when I am not at home. I do agree that chatting is such a good way to communicate. But often I call my friends or send them an SMS if there are important things I need to discuss.

Thanks for the response, jpso138, I do think that we have the priority sometimes to call, sms rather than chatting. But, we need chatting because it is free!

I don't chat at all. I do read discussion on myot and visit many other sites to read. The chating is not a favorite system to me. I prefer to talk on my cell rather than Chating. And as I have none who living in abroad, the cell cost is not maximum to me.

I don't know whether my life is great or not. But I have to keep myself busy for my daughter. Reading discussion and other articles gives me pleasure and taking my time.

Yes, for someone, chat is not essential at all. Better not try as nothing much you can gain from it. Do something like what are you doing right now.

Yes, I also sometimes think that chatting is not so essential part of communication. But, because it is free, I'm still using it to make conference to discuss something important with my friend.

I have signed up with MSN and I have never used it. E-mail and social sites are my main means of online communication.

I can say that once I open my computer, I will automatically sign in on 2 messengers. So lets say that if I open it for whole day, I will be online on those messengers for whole day but not necessarily chatting. I am using gtalk and yahoo for chatting.Sometimes I use also skype but some of my friends do not use it. I do not look for anyone to chat with me but I just chat with my boyfriend and some friends on the internet. I use gtalk in chatting with my boyfriend. While chatting with friends, I use the yahoo messenger. While I am doing some stuffs in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, or just researching, I just let myself online on gtalk and yahoo. It is for my boyfriend and friends to have a chance to talk with me if they see me online and vice versa. The person whom I actually chatting most of the time is my boyfriend. He is in America and having a long distance relationship is not that easy. We must make sure to it that we have an open communication most of the times. He is very busy in working there and cannot give me time what time will he be online. But as much as he can online early, he always do just to chat with me.I stay about 2 hours in front of my computer every morning. And since I have my online job starts at 1pm here in the Philippines and end at 6pm, I remain online on those messengers.

I spend at most 2 hours a day. I always chat with my friends when having some problems, or sometimes it just for keeping me updated on them. Just as a side point, usually start at the moment I get myself on my laptop, I sign in into my Yahoo Messenger, and I will only sign out hours later. I let it available all the time, so that if any of my friends have something to talk with me, I'm already there. Have a nice day! :)
