I just had a Mylot violation. Have you?

I used the word a-s-s in answering a discussion. I didn´t know it was actually not allowed. In the first place, I could be saying that it is an animal and not meaning it to say ¨nether region¨. LOL, I sure would learn.

Yes I know the violations like what they really call Richard Cheney, and it does not start with R, the nickname for the lower class Londoners who live near the Bow Bells of London, and certain racial epithets that are not allowed for certain ethnic groups, oh and the name for a female dog. It sounds rather silly for me not to mention a famous actor or author whose name starts with D*ck. So I was wondering the ones who insist on that name being offensive be willing to go through all the books where these horrible D names are mentioned and pay for the change. Aint I a meanie!

ROFL. Really? The D*ck, too? Well, it is the truth, right. I think Mylot is too strict anyway.

I actually thought about this whenever I was typing out a response. I think it's just best to "play it safe" and steer clear from cuss words. In real life, I am a cussing machine. One of my friends actually asked me the other day if I could go twenty sentences in a row without cussing so I know how you feel. Good luck and I'll be seeing ya!

I don´t really curse much but when the discussion is so intruiging or interesting, it really gets to me that much. Besides, the times that I get these violations are those when I don´t even mean it as a curse. Stupid, right? Thanks!

Although I haven't encountered it recently, I have run across Mylot's censorship in the past. It was always in a case where the context of my usage had nothing to do with the reason it was censored. A couple of times it was even hard to come up with a different word or phrasing to say what I wanted to say. I was really surprised the first time it happened because it was quite a stretch to consider the word that was censored to be a bad word. It would be interesting to know where they got the list that the programming uses to identify the words to be censored.

I hear you, Stealthy. Sometimes, they think you foul when you don´t even mean what they are censoring. It´s ridiculous.

I think I was able to write some words that are considered a violation here. But its quite easy to change them considering that when you submit, mylot will give you and idea that such words are not allowed. In such cases, you can then edit and change or make adjustment so and so that the post are accepted.

There are words on here that you would not think to be in violation but are, it is easy to either just use another word or put a space between as you did there. Although I would be careful as few may still be offended. Have a wonderful day!

I didn´t really think of it that way. I was baffled about that certain word because it has two meanings. Thanks! =]
