My bank is merging...

I work at a small bank. It's not a national bank, but it has been around for almost 130 years as one of the area's "largest small-town" banks... Last week, we were all informed our little bank will be merging with M & T bank. I am a little shocked, because I thought everything was fine. It was where I get my first bank account and my whole family banks there. It's a good bank. We have to say goodbye to it!
It's a little sad. It's the end of an era: all the small banks are merging with larger banks and I think soon there will be hardly any left. Time will tell whether or not our bank stays as good as it always has.

I hate to see the small banks being bought by the big banks. The smaller bank used to be so personal. the bigger banks can't be as flexible as the smaller ones were. In my opinion every thing getting bigger is not going to be good for the economy.

I used to work for a bank that merged with another and then another and the end result was Bank Of America. I worked with Bank IV and then they went to Boatman's, then they merged with somebody, can't remember the name and then they became BOA. It was a wild ride and during that time I went back to school and got into law.
