I was replying to another discussion a while ago, when this topic suddenly struck me. Personally, I'm hoping that we'll be able to come home for the holidays. How about you, do you have plans to either go on vacation or take a trip home for this coming holiday season?

Spending the holidays with the family is absolutely a great feeling; and like you, I also want to see my friends whom I haven't seen for quite a long time now. Happy holidays!

most of us, whitefox, will indeed prefer to spend the holidays with our love ones. for the workingman, this is the opportunity to be around our folks for a much longer time as everyone else is taking the time off work and other concerns. i hope that you will make it home just as you wish for. good luck in all your undertakings and enjoy the holidays with the family.

I hope you were able to spend quality time with your family and loved ones during the holiday season; just as what I did. There wasn't much food and gifts but just the same, we did enjoy the long vacation. Anyway, happy new year; although this might be a bit late already.

Thank you ,you are so kind. I agree with you that most people are like to spend with their lovers and friends, but I think as you spend the whole year for your work,so when I get holiday ,it's also important to spend time with family.

i have tried my best to be with my children for the entire month of december and hope to stay around till the entirety of january, too. quite a respite from hard labor at the farm, mykmari. it really feels so good to be around the company of my kids. as for going out anywhere, no, i am content to be staying home with my children. less all the worries and hassles this way. besides, i really feel so drained of any excitement to be anywhere else. there are times when we feel so very relaxed and calm by just simply staying footed at home. i am so tired i don't even look forward to any shopping at this time. perhaps by january, i would have recovered a good amount of my strength. as for you, mykmari, i am hoping that you will make it home for the holidays as you are looking forward to it. all the best for you, my friend.

Hi friend. I guess you were already able to put up an internet cafe, since this reply was due 4 years ago. I am also in-charge with my mom's internet shop here in the province, after I resigned from my daytime job. Anyway, mykmari is just my codename in writing. My profile picture here belongs to my daughter, when she was still 3 weeks old. I'm a female, by the way. Regards.

I must admit that your response is one of the first few responses I've read so far for this new year. I've had a trip going back here in the city just yesterday, together with my spouse. Frankly, I'm not so looking forward to taking the trip because we had to leave our daughter with my parents in the province; although we really had a great bonding time during the holiday season. Just like you friend, I didn't do much shopping for the holidays. We were quite short of cash so I had to give that up and resort to just purchasing some stuff for our daughter. Much of the funds were spent for the food during the christmas and new year celebrations; while some was used for our transportations fares. You mentioned about 'labor at the farm' and it definitely interested me; because I assumed that you have a business. It's been a lifelong dream of mine to have my own business because I'm quite tired of working for another person or firm for more than a decade now; unfortunately, I still don't have the capital to fulfill this dream. Anyway, best of luck for this year of the Earth Ox! Regards, friend.

Now that I'm already married with one daughter, I must admit that I also miss my parents who live in the province and I miss my hometown, too. I'm not the type of person who goes on vacation frequently, so I always look forward to opportunities to visit my family. Happy holidays, too!

I was hoping to go and spend the holiday season overseas, but then i had to change my plans as i have to travel mid January. I cannot afford to take two trips so close with each other. So i will be spending the holiday at home but i will be with family.

I think that's a better idea. Taking several trips with less intervals is definitely tiring and might drain your energy out. At least, you'll be spending the holiday season with your family. Happy holidays!

In China, so many people are refer as migrant worker, which work in another city, some of them even come from the north of China to the south of China. sine the journey is so long, most of them only come back one time per year. some of the even only one time in several years! beside the long journey, there are two other reason, one is the busy traffic, since this season is the only long holiday for Chinese, and the Spring Festival is the most traditional festival for Chinese, every one would like to spent the holiday with their family. so the traffic is so busy, a great number perple gather in the station to wait the train or bus, many people spent one or two days to wait in the station. the other reason is the expensive cost. some people especially the one who come from the north to the south, their one time back and forth pay may cost their one month's salary. this is why some of them only come back one time in several years! Compare to them, I was more fortunate, I work in another city, but in a same province, it is only 500 kilometer away for me. but I also come back one time per year. so in this new year's holiday, I definitely will go home and spent the time with my family.

You must have felt so happy and excited to have taken the trip back home. It really is different spending time with your family during holidays and celebrating festivities with them rather than being alone. Just like your case there, we also experienced a long vacation locally; 12 days to be exact. But going back here in the city, I was surprised to learn that the long traffic which my spouse and I anticipated was nowhere in sight. But we were thankful about it and we arrived here as scheduled. Anyway, I'm aware that the year of the Eart Ox will officially start on January 26 of this year in the Chinese calendar. But since you said that you're from China, what is in store for us, if I may ask? Happy New Year!

Well, I do envy you because you're already taking your vacation. Locally, the last working day for the present year is tomorrow so we still have to work until tomorrow; but in my case, I have already informed my superiors that I'm taking the day off and hopefully, we (my spouse, me, & our daughter) will be able to take a trip home to the province early tomorrow. Anyway, enjoy your vacation & take care!
