Do you think Stevia is safe? Stevia is a south American herb that is naturally hundred of times sweeter than sugar and has no calories. many assume that because Stevis is natural and herb, it is safe. but asccording to FDA, they say that Stevis is an unsafe food addictive. even more alarming , they said that literature reports have raised comcerns about stevia's effects on blood sugar as well as possible adverse impacts it might have on reproductive, cardiovascular, and renal systems. many of us might have never even heard of any health concerns with stevia. so what do you think my friends. do you believe that it is harmful for us or do you not?

I bought some Stevia recently at a local vitamin shop and I'm not too thrilled about it personally but that might be cause I bought the liquid instead of the pill form. The liquid is a bit messy. The taste is different by not offensive and I tolerate it fairly well. I have read a lot of different reports on it both good and bad and I personally think the US is holding off on making a ruling on it because if you have something safe (unlike aspartame) to replace sugar with the sugar industry is going to lose a lot of money. All you have to do is walk up and down the shelves of any US supermarket and you will see how much pull the sugar industry has. I think it all comes down to money and who has more of it to lose and gain. You can grow two stevia plants in your garden and have a years supply of stevia, which would save hundreds of dollars over bagged sugar, so I would say the sugar industry is very threatened by this.
