I just got married last January and I am wearing my wedding ring on my right ring finger. My husband is wearing his wedding ring on his left ring finger. Some people say that both should wear in on the right. Do you know which is the correct way to wear wedding ring? What is your basis?

Any finger would be fine to wear the ring, as long as you married life is running successful.

LOL! You appear to have taken the reply and the word 'finger' seriously.....!! Finger means any finger, in which your ring can fit, sometimes, ring does not fit in a particulr finger. Undoubtedly, finger does not mean thumb, otherwise I have seen people wearing ring in almost all the fingers.

So, you mean either right or left would do.

Really? What do you mean any finger? Does it include the thumb and pointer?

if i'm not wrong, as according to other fellow mylotters, it should be on the ring (forth) finger of your left hand. i always thought left is for ladies and right for men but well, if both are on the left hand, than so be it. i'll take note =)

Hey regal_aeros you are partly correct - it should be the left hand, but not only for the female, its the same for the male too

Hello maroseqf! I think the second responder is right. I just recently got married too. My family here in the Philippines that the wedding ring should be on the right hand but my husband which is American said that the wedding ring there in US should be on the left hand. So we put our wedding ring on the left.

Why did you prefer following the American tradition rather than Filipino.

Hello maroseqf, I am not really following American customs it's just that I am more confident in wearing the wedding ring on the left. I don't know why.

you suppose to wear your wedding ring on your left ring finger. i have never heard of married people wearing it on the right hand unless they don't want no one to know that they are married.

Hi maroseqf. First of all, congratulations to your marriage!!! I just got married this year too. I always thought it should be on our left hand? Both of us wearing the ring on our left hand. I thought right hand is for engagement? Well, i'm not that sure. It's better to check out. Have a nice day!!

Most of our fellow lotters say that it should be both on the left ring finger because of the vein thing.

I don't actually know where to place it. But what I heard from my companies, it is best to wear it on your left ring finger. I don't really know the reason why. Also my mother wears it on her left ring finger.:)

Anyways, I don't really know where to put it but let us just follow their belief.:) It does not mean that if you place the ring on the wrong place is wrong. Ring is just symbol of your marriage.:)

Firstly, let me congratulate for your happy marriage Marose! Also best wishes for your first marriage anniversary that you will enjoy in January, few days next! Yes, about the wedding-rings, it is a tradition at my place to wear it at the ring finger of the right hand for men as well as women after their marriage. It enhances good health only at that position, because we use right hand for feeding ourselves. Since rings are made of precious metals like gold, silver and copper in their composition, this supports our health in microscopic level. Another fact is that we do sacred things with our right hand only. Wedding rings are assumed to be as sacred as marriage and so find to be positioned at the ring finger of the right hand only! You may request your husband to do so. Thanks for this nice discussion and have a good day!

in the christian orthodox church (or at least the branch that I belong to) is the ring finger on the right hand and it has been that one since forever we wear or engagement ring on the ring finger on the left and the wedding ring on the right hand.

I wear my wedding ring on the left ring finger while my husband is wearing his on the right ring finger. They are people who told me that the wedding ring suppose to be at the right ring finger of the lady and left ring finger of the man but I totally disagree with them. For me, which hand is not a matter, as long as one is comfortable with the ring on the finger. As I always use right hand to write and other chores, I prefer it to be left empty so as not to spoilt any ornaments on it. On the other hand, my left hand will have all the ornaments, like rings and bracelet. I feel more comfortable this way as there would be less work on the left hand and therefore less probability to get scratches.

Actually, that is what I also thought before - right on woman and left on man.

Most people wear their wedding rings on the third finger of their left hand as it was once believed that a vein from this finger is directly connected to the heart. Whilst this is a very romantic notion, I am not 100% sure that it has been scientifically proved, however most have followed the tradition for centuries. I would personally want to wear the ring on the same finger as my partner when I get married as I guess it displays unity, but which finger you wear your ring on is not the most important thing in a marriage, so it really is down to you and your husband to make the final choice!

Here in the US a wedding ring is worn on the left ring finger. The same goes for the engagement ring as well. I don't know if it's the same way for other countries. Maybe you can look it up online and find out.

Well,it all depends on what country you're from. Here in America they wear it on the left hand while in my homeland it's right. Check it out: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedding_ring If you do a little research,a lot of sources say that wedding ring is meant to be worn on the left hand because it's closer to heart. IMO,it's completely up to you:)
