This shot is of one of my 4 dining room windows. This is one of the windows where I get some of my ice crystal photos. This was taken as we left for the Casino Sunday morning with a temp of -17F and a windchill of -35F at the airport near me. Just a tad cold huh? My screen doors were frozen shut from the icy cold temps etc as well. Had to push it open forcibably. Have your house doors ever gotten frozen shut tightly? HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Polly -- My pipes usually freeze once every winter, because I forget to leave the water running overnight when it's really really cold. That's not gonna happen this year, because I can't turn the cold water off! There's a constant trickle of water even if I turn the supply valve under the sink. My cat loves it, but I keep thinking of my poor water bill.

I've had more of a problem with my car doors freezing shut in the past Grandpa Bob, it has taken me ages to defrost the car and ages for the door to be opened, especially of course in the mornings, the last thing you want to do is hang around in the cold getting the car warmed up! But admittedly the temperatures weren't as low as -17F! I hope you enjoyed your trip to the casino and had fun!

I've learned in storms like ice etc I leave my doors ajar. If they get frozen it's easier to get into it. Then I also leave them ajar as I drive to rid the water etc as I drive. In a couple winutes it is fine and they won't fdreeze up. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Reminds me of a very bad joke... when is a door not a door? When it's a jar! ba-dump-bump! Doesn't the pinging telling you the door is open drive you crazy?

I could say a few times it happened the screen doors, not the front or back doors winter could get really ugly here so it's quite common I think sometimes we don't clean up the snow quickly so it builds up sometimes it's just piling up over night

Yes my doors have. One time was my car door I was inside the car. I had to sit there for a every long time waiting for the door to unfreeeze. I got in and started car went to get back out and couldn't. I had to pee how rude.So I held handle and kicked door and nothing. So I sat and did the pee pee sit dance and it unfroze in about 15 to 20 min. I now make sure I do all that before I go to car. That was many years ago. I lived in Osseo MN at the time. Now I find it funny. your friend onlydia

Thanks for sharing your Photos once again. At least you were able to get out and have some Fun even with all of the Cold weather you were having. As far as I know, I have never personally had a Door stick on me, but I have heard of it happening to others. When we had our coldest weather here, I heard of this happening to people with their Car doors as well.

No.... Does sound like a good excuse to stay home..... "I'm sorry, boss, but the doors are frozen shut." I did once have to call my boss and tell her that I was afraid to move my car because of the ice on the driveway. If I moved it, I would probably go down the hill my driveway's on, across the street and into the house across the street's garage!

I remembered last night to let the water drip. Things warmed up today, in the teens. My cold water had still been frooze, thas working again. It would have been tough trying to cook Christmas dinner with no water. I have seen it so cold that I have had pipes freeze even with the water running in a stream. I hope you have no troubles this winter. Merry Christmas. Your kitty is so cute.

I really thought -5 was cold here, but -17 with a windchill of -35. I think I would die of the cold as I cannot stick it. I really would hate that. How on earth are you able to go to the Casino in those temperatures. If that was over here all our roads would be closed and we would all die. I remember years ago my doors being frozen shut and the heating system got frozen up as well.
