We have a 2 and a half year old puggle that is the center of our lives. He has been attached to us since day one. For anyone that doesn't know what a puggle is, they are a hybrid (fancy way to say mutt and charge a lot of money), where a purebred male pug breeds a purebred female beagle. The puppies end up having the best qualities of both breeds and it usually gets rid of the breathing problems suffered by pugs alone. Our little guy loves to go camping with us and loves heading out on the boat. The beagle really comes out when it comes to water though, he wouldn't go in over his belly. He's great with our elderly friends and sits nicely and lets them enjoy his company. He's easy to spin up and play rough-house with and then he calms right down and curls up in a little ball and just wants to nap with us. We had some housebreaking problems because his sign to go outside was so incredible subtle (he would look at the door). We ended up hanging a jingle bell and with-in a week our boy was ringing the bell to go potty. They are incredibly smart, but only on their terms; a bit rockheadish is how we refer to it. A similar problem arose when we put a doggie door in this past Spring. He knew how to go out through it but unless there was a good reason to he would just scratch on the door and make us go open it. That was until our cat Nikko (RIP) decided one day to slip through the door. Stu Dog quickly followed, not to be out done by the cat! He's a great little buddy. They are a very loyal and cuddly breed. Most puggles are only 15-25 pounds and are great for apartments or small houses. He likes being in the country (where we live) and loves going for walks on a lease in the city when visiting family or vacationing. He really is like another little human in the house. We can't imagine life without him, he is awesome!
