Are Anyone Else's Travel Plans Getting Screwed Up?

Yesterday my mom and my stepfather were supposed to come pick me up and take me to their house along with my assistant for the holidays. This failed because of two things, one there was a blizzard. And two, their van broke down. No big deal, I am used to travel related drama, so after some discussion it is decided that my assistant and I will take the train home today. We leave the house around noon for a train that is supposed to leave at two fifty. Midway through the ride I realized I had left my medicine at my house. I can't survive on no medicine for a week. So I call my other assistant and ask her to run the medicine out to me, all the way in Springfield. She agrees. We continue on our journey. We get to the train station and I am feeling slightly frazzled, but okay. Then we find out our train is two and a half hours late. Later we discovered that this was because the Vermont train crew had been stuck all night trying to get to Vermont and hadn't had a break. And as there was no other train crew, Amtrak decided to delay everything because you don't want tired people driving trains. But a two and a half hour delay means I would miss the connection between Philly and Harrisburg where my parents live. At this point, I am about to panic. I call my mom who's staying at my Grandma's house helping her with something for a few hours. And she, after calling my stepfather, tells me to go back home and she'll be up with my stepfather and the repaired van tomorrow afternoon. At this point, I call the van service and beg them to take me back home, which I wasn't scheduled to do, and normally they won't take same day reservations. But as this was an emergency, they helped me out. Then I tried to call my assistant and tell her not to bring my meds because I was coming home anyway. But she forgot to bring her phone in her rush to give the medicine to me and make sure nothing happened. I think this trip is cursed and I am hoping to figure out what the Universe is trying to tell me before something disastrous happens. What about you? Are your travel plans getting screwed up, or are you having smooth sailing?

Well, I know you are not the only one having Travel plans being delayed. We live here in the Seattle area, and we have heard of people being stranded here at our Greyhound, Amtrak, and the Airport for days. It is getting to be Crazy around here, and then we are expecting another Snow Storm tonight or tommorow so it is making it a Big mess around here for sure. We are supposed to go to my husbands families for either Christmas Eve or Christmas day and a lot of it will depend on what the weather is like for sure. It has not been a yr. to remember for most people as well. But like someone else already mentioned this must of not been your time to Travel and when things happen it will be Good for you and make you forget about everything you had to go thru. Wishing you a Merry Christmas my friend.

It sounds like your travel plans are not working out. I did see on the television that the USA are having some blizzard type of weather. Yes, it causes such delays on the train system and some vans to break down. I know that it is terrible to forget to put your medicine in your luggage. I have been to the USA three times and when my train arrived late by 5 hours at midnight I was given a free half hour taxi ride to my accommodation. I remember the upsetting time when I was booked on a flight to Mexico and then a hurricane stopped Cancun Airport from being open. I had to get a refund and I managed to get a flight to the Maldives. So I don't always have smooth sailing with my travel plans. Good luck with future traveling my friend.

Wow, that was quite a mess. I hope things go better and your parents are able to come and get you. Maybe you just weren't meant to go yet.
