Do you ever find when cook you food, you can't always follow the instructions?

I just cooked myself up a box of potato skins, and it said to cook them for 11-12 minutes. I did, and it looked like the cheese wasn't all the way melted. So I had to cook it for another 5 minutes. Then, it looked right.
I guess it depends on your oven. Not all ovens cook the same. It looks like mine doesn't want to follow directions.

Cooking potato skins? It sounds interesting, I've never tried that before. Can you share with me the recipe? Just peel off the potato skins, then put into oven and bake?
Well, sometimes I do not follow the instructions, as I do have my own style of cooking, I'll adjust it by myself to suit the taste I like.

Actually, I was just cooking an off brand version of TGIFriday's Potato Skins. So, the "recipe" is on the box.
