Around Christmas as an adult, have you ever wanted to jump up and down and scream Santa is coming Santa is coming, like you did when you were a child. Granted I missed out on a lot as child due to being dead poor, like legos, christmas presents, puzzles, stuff like that. Now as an adult, I love playing with legos and doing puzzles, the are the bestest. I watched my daughter last night hyped up on excitement because Santa was coming and honest I wanted to join, I am excited too, why can't I jump up and down and be excited. What you are your thoughts?

I personally think we should NEVER have to grow up. I'm a big kid when it comes to simple things in life. If I could go back in time, it'd be to when I was 4 or 5 yrs old....when all we did was color, cut & paste to our heart's content. When Saturday mornings meant cereal and cartoons...and when we couldn't sleep on Christmas Eve because we were too busy listening out for Santa's reindeer. All the kids in my family are now old enough (college, high school and middle school) to believe in Santa--like its not cool or something. I still choose to believe though...even if some people think its silly. Tomorrow night, on Christmas Eve, I will still be listening out for reindeer on my rooftop!! :)

Well MizzWilliams, as someone who knows you so well, I agree with the statement that you never grew up. LOL, only joking. I understand what you saying, why can't we have the innocent excitement of Christmas.

You are so right---you DO know me so well! I still ask for crayons and coloring pages at restaurants! In these stressful times of our adulthood I grasp at any break from reality that life can offer!!

I LOVE your response MizzWilliams33 and I totally agree. Who ever decided that growing up meant being serious and sullen all the time? What a crock! I love playing, I still go sledding in winter and I splash in mud puddles and dance in the rain in spring. My son loves it and being a parent for me - just means (among many other things) that I have someone to share my childlike delight with and that people wont look at me like I'm crazy nearly as often as they did when I was out splashing in puddles without my son!

I love Christmas spirit. My mom makes our favorite dish. my sister does all the decorations but no real christmas tree is used at our home .Just a small artificial one which my sister decorates. In evening we all sit together , happily chat, i make ginger tea which is quite fav with us.We share jokes, no tv allowed to interfere. Yes we do listen to our fave songs but not no carols just gazals or other slow , soothing music. We eat at around 9:30.Mind you i am not christian , i am hindu so i don't know exactly how to celebrate but we love christmas spirit so we do our own family celebration. These type of time becomes a very happy memory later

It sounds like you have a lot of happy memories and I think it is great that you show the Christmas spirit eventhough you don't celebrate the holiday. Do you have a Christmas equivelant in Hinduism?

we love gifting my mom in the morning itself. Because on our birthdays my mom would wake us up and wishes us like we are still very small for her and everytime gift will be a total surprise and then we realize how much we needed them.Mom knows everything really. On our bithday we are not even allowed to do any work, mom would totally pamper us. So on christmas we do the same for her . we buy gift for her then hide it, stay awake the whole night in excitement of seeing mom's smile when we wake her up with her fave ginger tea and give her gift. Mom's smile makes my day.I really adore my mom and how much she did for us.

Why not do it? I'm sure your daughter would have a blast... As for me, at times I would wanna go back to my childhood days..days where you can just be happy and not think about problems and stuff. *sighs*

Days when lost equity in your house doesn't matter and you don't know where the food comes from just that it comes. Stuff like that? I over compensate a lot with my daughter to make up for the things I missed, and seeing her sparkling face yesterday, just made me so happy, she knows that Santa is coming and he is "going to bring me something amazing!". I want the innocince back that I see in her.

why just worry about it at christmas.if you are excited about anything anytime then do it.no person should ever feel bound by the expeted behaviour they are made to be broken.one word off caution though if your going to do it then dont moan at the children doing it when excited

I find my daughters show excitement to endearing. I love watching her reaction to thing. Uncontrolled, non-inhibited, which you see is what you get. Why do we out grow that.

That is so funny. Just before my kids went to bed tonight, we did just that. I told them that Santa comes tomorrow night, then we all held hands and jumped up and down. My poor husband thought that the boys were in a knock-down drag-out fight because of the noise we made. It really felt great to act like a child for a moment.

What an absolutely wonderful discussion! I have always been pretty open and accepting of my inner child so when I feel like joining in on the excitement my son exhibits I do it! You should see us at Halloween, we always dress up as the same thing and we argue over what we're gonna be...it's just really fun. At Christmas it's the same thing, I let myself remember what Christmas was like for me as a child and I join in. I agree with the other responders - if you'd let yourself join in the excitement your daughter would love you for it. Just because your an adult doesn't mean that you can't get excited and let those Christmassy emotions carry you away! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

when i was a child i want to be an adult. it was just i saw my neighboirs who is adult which can express their thoughts. i thoughts being an adult person is u can do watever u want to do. but as i grow my impression in adult life is not very easy. it was just theres a lot of responsibilities and limitations in everything u do. well right now i want to be a child but it cannot turn back those years when i was a child so why i should be upset i must grow and face the reality that i am now an adult and i must grab this as an opportunity to help those people around me.

Nothing is stopping you from jumping up and down with her.. I did with mine! they loved it! lol! I still get excited when I hear the ice cream truck go by on a summer day... and when I find a Easter egg that I hid and forgot! lol! and *looking around* I still have my own crayons and playdoh (my kids are teenagers now, so they won't bother my toys!lol!) Don't ever grow up.... it's over rated! and a lot less fun! please excuse me, my favorite cartoon is on!!!! gotta go!!!!

First of all, great question, looks like a good plot for a movie, honestly. Second, if your personality goes along with your thoughts and the action does not hurt anyone then why would it be bad? Hurt in any sense, of course, that includes yourself XD If its like a game for you, then play it! But remember to add anyone in!

I might have done that still if I havent chnaged my views about santa yet. But I do jump up and down when I was young thinking that I might grow tall because that was my grand parents told me. hahahaha. some kind of superstitious belief. And there were times that I do miss being a child and somehow wish that I not have grow up. What I enjoyed doing even now is watching cartoons. I dont know I just cant help myself but watch it with some kids. I find it wierd but enjoying and relaxing.
