I think that women are more sentimental and do buy presents for their partners, but this year I haven't been able to afford it my partner understands. so we have agreed not to buy each other anything...littleowl

I prefer to give money gift to my wife since she knows exactly what she wants to buy with it. Most of the times when I buy her clothes she returns it to the shop in order to get something else.

Probably, depends on the personality of each. I think yes, womans are idealistic but practical at the same time. They can also administrate money very well.

Hundred persent I agree.I can't choice any gift.Even our marriage day I ask my wife what kind of gift she wants. But without asking she gives me gift which I like. She always choice my dress.I think in this case your husband is like me and you are like my wife.

I can't say that I agree on this at all. I think each case is probably different. The first year I met my boyfriend, he bought me a fishing pole. When people would ask, what did Billy get you for Christmas and I would tell them, they would look at me and ask if I was mad. Why would I be mad? He gave me a fishing pole because he wanted to share one of his favorite interests wth me. After 12 years any gift he has ever given me, he has put a lot of thought into. I know my father always put a lot of time and effort into choosing gifts not only for my mother but for any one he was buying a gift for. I really don't know if this is the norm or not.
